My theory (and i could be wrong) is the posh points owners were educated into the world of coupons by a certain organization and I don't wnt to use the words threatened, harassed, or anything like that, but really can't think of a more subtle word then those and that is the reason there are no more coupons.
If this theory is true then noone can really blame the poshpoints owners for doing this... |
I agree with your "theory" implying that CIC is a good suspect re harrassment of a site not familiar with laws or LOL lack thereof re coupons.
I disagree that a "beanie babie for 5 points" could've been just as likely used for fraudulent poshpoint posts as a coupon offering. Fools did buy things like a GC at ten times face value. It could have been much easier to use coupons (especially unpopular coups) for fraud on poshpoints. People were seeking referrals all over the web. The referral points required the new Member to post an offering & pay for shipping. Posting some unpopular coupons would then allow the referrer to buy them with 1 or low points followed by no real shipping/cost & then followed by confirmation (or even no confirmation).
Yes it could've been done with any unpopular (to the rest of their community) offering, but I guess they saw coupons as an easy way to abuse the referrals. I'll further guess there was a correlation between alt-IDs & those offering coupons.
No, I'm not agreeing with their decision to disallow coupons. Even freely available printables require the time to find them. They likely just weren't skilled enough to do otherwise when faced with a combination of problems.
