anyone here scam on poshpoints?

of course if anyone did I'm sure noone would admit it.Also,i'm sure that none of the regulars around here would do such a thing.Maybe lurkers, but poshpoints has been posted all over the internet and not just here anyway much less only coupon forum boards.

I just find it funny that about a week ago one of the owners (gnusis) quoted in the forums that he tracked down most of the problems to fraud before the coupons were listed as much as they had been. Then a few days later he quoted that the coupons were a breeding ground for fraud.(i'm not going to track this down, but i do know he said the fraudsters were on there before the vast majority of coupons were being listed somewhere in the forums)So why all of a sudden change his story.
Pretty much the point is...yesterday bgladiator made a good point that anyone could have just as well posted a beanie babie for 5 points to commit fraud as well as a coupon. That makes sense doesn't it?I mean why just list coupons. It doesn't have anything to do with whether or not someone else might buy it.If it's listed for a ridiculous point amount then noones going to get it anyway. So why only fraud in the coupons.I mean part of the problem was giving points away. Were those listed in the coupons too?

My theory (and i could be wrong) is the posh points owners were educated into the world of coupons by a certain organization and I don't wnt to use the words threatened, harassed, or anything like that, but really can't think of a more subtle word then those and that is the reason there are no more coupons.

If this theory is true then noone can really blame the poshpoints owners for doing this.I guess it just ticks me off a little that some of the members really think the coupons had everything to do with the resent fraud scams and if the word coupons is even mentioned some of them want to ridicule and/or laugh at the poster at the posters expense.

It was easy to paint that picture on PoshPoints.... it went from a relatively calm place to BOOM! over night 100's of brand new posts. Many being coupons.

I am not saying couponers were doing the majority of the fraud, just sayign that we were an easy scapegoat.

I agree with your "theory" implying that CIC is a good suspect re harrassment of a site not familiar with laws or LOL lack thereof re coupons.

I disagree that a "beanie babie for 5 points" could've been just as likely used for fraudulent poshpoint posts as a coupon offering. Fools did buy things like a GC at ten times face value. It could have been much easier to use coupons (especially unpopular coups) for fraud on poshpoints. People were seeking referrals all over the web. The referral points required the new Member to post an offering & pay for shipping. Posting some unpopular coupons would then allow the referrer to buy them with 1 or low points followed by no real shipping/cost & then followed by confirmation (or even no confirmation).

Yes it could've been done with any unpopular (to the rest of their community) offering, but I guess they saw coupons as an easy way to abuse the referrals. I'll further guess there was a correlation between alt-IDs & those offering coupons.

No, I'm not agreeing with their decision to disallow coupons. Even freely available printables require the time to find them. They likely just weren't skilled enough to do otherwise when faced with a combination of problems.
