Just looking f or sympathy-

I feel so bad. He had a temp this weekend, but had just gotten shots- so that was what i thought caused that. He had a rash on Fri as well, and the DR said it was eczema- it was, but then another rash appeared Monday, I wasn't sure if it was the same or not. Finally called today, cause the eczema cleared up, but this other rash was still there. I also found out one of the kids I watch before/after school had strep last week, and the parents never told me

So off to the Dr we go today- double ear infection. He hasn't been himself the past two days, but given this, he has been great! I just feel so bad, I hate when my kids are sick-especially when they are this young and can't tell you what is wrong!

And as for the parents of the little one that you watch I'd let them know that they NEED to tell you if the child is sick or not, that way you'll know what to expect and be able to tell the Dr what your little one has bee exposed to in the future.

I've been through that many times too........where they have a double ear infection and you don't know it. Strep throat can be tricky. My son and daughter had it before.....and all they had was a fever. Took them to the dr.......he wanted to do a Strep test just to rule it out......and they HAD it! No sore throat or anything like that.

Wendy - try to not feel so bad. My DS had ear infections till he was almost 2 yrs. old, and they were fixin' to put tubes in his ears. How bad do you think I felt when the dr. told me it could be from smoking in the house? I FELT LIKE CHIT!!! Haven't smoked in the house since then, but still haven't quit. Down to about 3-4 a day, and that's pretty major for DH and I as we've always been a pack to a pack and a 1/2 a day smokers! Just be glad you caught it now so you can give him the undying love and attention he deserves! Love U!

Thanks for the support guys! You know as a mother it just makes you feel terrible for your little ones when they are sick.

My other two went through the ear infections also, in fact dd2 had tubes put in at 15 months! I guess I just forgot what it was like- they can tell me now what hurts and where. At least I took him in and we got it taken care of.

My son had them al the time also. I smoke but not in the house and he still had them. He got tubes for his hearing not really for infections and VOILA not only did it help the hearing but no more infections!! worked wonders. They fell out after a year. He was fine for another year but hearing was getting bad again and he just had more put in last week but infections neve came back.
You feel so horrible when you cant comfort your little ones. It breaks your heart. Hang in there

Wendy..this is EXACTLY what Melanie just went through, she got her shots, then a fever, then a rash..the pediatrician said it was eczema...then the double ear infection......the oral antibiotics did not work after a week of her going through incredible pain and then the pediatrician finally decided to give her injections two days in a row. Be prepared to lose a lot of sleep hon...hope the little guy feels better soon.

oh great- I hope he doesn't have to follow her example. Is she doing better now? I hope so!

Yes, she is doing just fine....just a few hours after the first injection she was in better spirit..but it was heck before that.
