Thinking about finding a national store (Walmart, Target, WAGS, Kroger) to work part-time and use the employee discount to save more money. I figure with using coupons AND an employee discount, I could REALLY save some money and get some extra free stuff.

Anyone do this or know what discounts that the above mentioned companies give to their PART-TIME employees?

I have thought about this myself, I was thinking of getting something seasonal, Target, CVS or Walgreens would be my top picks BUT I don't think I'm fit to work with the public anymore Probably get fired my first day

I just applied at Walgreens. My neice works there and loves it! She is also into coupons!

I worked at Target many years ago when the discount was 15%, I think they've changed it to 10% now...but at the time for me, it was well worth it! I love that flippin store!

I am considering applying part time at the 24hr CVS on the weekends my DD is with her dad. I had shoulder surgery so I don't know if you can get a second job while on Worker's Comp. But I was going to do it just for the Employee Discount!

I have seriously considered working for WAGS...but right now it would have to be part time if I did. Not sure what their policy is on part time workers

It something to consider JCSAXX to make extra $ and get that discount that we know how to really use! good luck

Also if we got jobs at these places I know we couldn't be so mean to coupon users! I see your location is MO please let me know if you do and I will come to your WAGS to do my deals!

I use 2 work at Target u get a 10% discount believe me it isnt worth it LOL
home depot u dont get any discount was a part time job for 2 yrs u do get a 20% off coupon to use in december hope this helps and good luck in the job hunt

Called my local WAGS and employees get a discount of 15% off name brand and 20% off Wags brand. Also, called Kroger and was told they only give 5% off one time a week.

Can anyone confirm this discount amounts?

When I worked for Walmart years ago I got 10% off, but that might have changed. I plan on contacting Target to see how much of a discount that part time employee's get, if they get one at all.

How much of a discount does your Kroger offer? I just can't make myself apply at a place that only gives a 5% discount once a week, which would hardly cover my tax.

I got a job at Lowes Home Improvement store years ago when my Dad started buying a couple of properities to flip, and although I did not coupon then-I saved BIG TIME!!! Not only did they give a large employee discount,thay had special additional promo employee weeks, cash bonuses, you got first dibs on buying scratch and dent merchandise at insanely low prices or if they change displays they sell them cheap and employees know before anybody-a great perk! I got a 5 person hot tub that hung from the ceiling at the store for $200.00 out the door. I got my cabinets in my basement that I now use for my stockpile items-they were a display kitchen for $40.00!That place was a bargin's hunters paradise!!!!!

My grandma works at Walmart and she gets 10% discount (and I think she can get discount cards for everyone in her household over 18..someone please fill me in on this though, I've been wondering about it) and I think they get 20% once around Christmas, (or maybe once a year but she uses it at Christmas)...
I told DH I want to get a job at Target or Wags, and he just laughs because he knows exactly why =)

I have read previously of one couponer's experience. Her DH works for WM. in one shopping trip she swiped his employee discount card and on top of that used a lot of the infamous facebook coupons (15 of the $6 Pantene IIRC). Her DH was fired for that. I think she offered to return the items since the coupons were also voided by vrylmkt but I'm not sure if they closed the case against her DH. I don't know if he appealed the case. From what I understood, you can't use an employee discount with other discounts like coupons.

WHEREAS at WAG, I know the BAs and cashiers can use coupons on top of their 15% employees discount.

When I worked at WM I got a 10% discount, and my DH got a card too. We were allowed to use our discount cards with coupons. They tell you that the discount doesn't apply towards grocery items, but it did for most dry grocery. And every year for x-mas we got an additional % off of any one item. I can't remember the % exactly.

I worked at WM last year and the discount was 10% and it doesn't apply to anything on sale or clearanced or any grocery items except for snack type items such as soda, snack cakes, chips, etc. You can use coupons as long as you use them correctly of course. I think at Christmas time in the past they gave a 20% off ONE item but last year when I worked there, they decided to not do that and instead gave everyone 10% off all groceries until Jan. 1. All in all, not a BAD discount but it basically just covered a little bit above tax and if you are like me and really shop the clearance, it's not going to do much good there either.

my husband works at walmart and gets a 10% discount on everything in the store but food and sale items (some food like candy you get the 10% as well) and we use his discount and my coupons all the time and on christmas they get a 20% on one item
