I am getting married on Saturday and we're going to Hawaii on Tuesday for our honeymoon! I'm so excited! Our hotel is right on the beach in Honolulu and we plan to spend nine days on Oahu. We will have a rental car, too (expensive since hubby doesn't have a credit card and I'm not 25). I've tried to look online for things to do.

Here's what I have planned to do:
- Spend some time on Waikiki Beach
- Watch a movie when I get sunburned (free movie tickets from Axe are good at theaters in Honolulu. I have 4 tickets so we can see 2 movies.)
- Check out the North Shore
- visit the Dole Plantation
- visit Diamond Head State Monument
- Hike to Makapuʻu Point and/or hike to Manoa Falls
- Go snorkeling

Is there anything we missed that we should do while we're there? The new hubby is military so we might also be spending some time at Pearl Harbor.

1. Take lots of cash. Food is very expensive, whether you get it at the grocery or eat out.

I just returned last Sunday from Hawaii. Awesome trip. We stayed in Waikki on the beach. We looked into renting a car and decided to just wait til we got there to decide whether that was the right thing to do. Well, that was the smartest thing I could have done. There was NO time for a car. Parking anywhere is atrocious. Our resort (and most) charge $25 to park in their garages. You may want to confirm with your hotel first. And driving there is like being in a BIG city. I love driving, but I certainly am glad I didn't have to there. Also if you sign up for tours they do the driving. It was cheaper to pay for a tour than rent cuz for one they know where they are going. Also they are knowledgeable and you get a history lesson at the same time from the drivers.

We basically did what you have in mind but walked around the city, walked to the beach, ohhhhhhhhhhh don't forget a Luau night (Germaine's was great). Hubby might be interested in Army museum (free). We did Pearl Harbor, Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri, etc. Also did a one day 120 mile bus tour of island. Tour pkgs can range from 30 -70 per person depending on what size and type you buy.

i would definitely go to pearl harbor. if you are able to, we had the honor of getting a self guided tour from herb weatherwax. he is a pearl harbor survivor. he shared his personal stories w/us & i will never forget the time we were able to share w/him. it was the highlight of our entire trip.

Congrats on getting married. I have been to Hawaii twice and spent time on Oahu and on another island (kinda bad I can't remember the name). Go snorkling at Huhnanama Bay (Can't spell it, but it was really neat when we were there). Plus go see the blow hole (ask the locals and they should tell you where it is). Try body surfing also. I hated it, but you may like it.

My BIL lives in HI, so he knows the ins and outs of the hot spots there that are not on the tourist map. There is also a cool hike up to a waterfall at a park, but it isn't marked as a tourist spot.

Get friendly with a local at the hotel and ASK!
