Dry cleaning a carpet?

Does anyone know any products on the market to dry clean a carpet? I don't want to "freshen" it I want to clean it. I received a piece of nice carpet from DH's Aunt but I am so anal about things like that I want to clean it before I put it down. I can't seem to find anything other than wet cleaners like sprays and stuff. I think those sprinkle ones are more for scent and not cleaning, correct?

Thanks

I know there's some company that uses dry stuff to clean carpets, DH used them before we got married and I wasn't impressed...I don't know if they sell anything like that or not though...

There is a dry one that works well....(I'm an interior designer) and it is called Capture. It is powder that absorbs odors and soil through a sort of wicking system in damp powder. The stuff works really great on pets spots!! If you can find the mist spray with the powder that works the best! Good luck!

Before I bought my steamer I used the Capture too and it was good. Not good for messy pet messes but good for just cleaning.
