hey guys, please give me tips on correct application of eyeshadow to make it fresh looking longer. if you have oily/combination skin, how do you make eyeshadow stick to where you applied it? after a few hours, it has a tendency to bunch up where the crease is ![]() beauty experts, please advice. TIA PS: lately, to keep me from getting bored this winter I apply all the free make-up from WAG and Kmart ![]() UPDATE: I looked into all the free stuff and found this Revlon age defying concealer with botafirm spf20. it is in a small maroon, compact container that is creamy in consistency. I used the CG make-up sponges to apply to the eyelids up to the brow bone area and underneath the eyes. Applied the eyeshadow first thing this morning and its over 3 hrs now and it looks like freshly applied and it has not smudged at all. I am very pleased. I'll see how long it lasts. So far, so good. The best part ~ this is FREE and was a MM at WAG ![]() thanks for the ideas guys!

Try applying foundation and powder to your eyelid before you apply eyeshadow. Or you can buy an eyelid primer.

I agree, if you have an oily or even combo skin you may need a base to put under it. Usually the base you use on the rest of your face is a bit too heavy, so look for one specifically for eyeshadow.

I've never noticed eyeshadow base in the store. Is it in the same area as the eye shadow?

ohhhh I've seen a Merle Norman shop here but it looks pricey. how much is this eyeshadow primer? I've tried applying foundation and mineral powder prior to eyeshadow application but it doesn't work. I might try that Merle Norman primer. Are there any substitutes available at regular stores like WAG, SWM and Target? if so, what should I look for? TIA

mary kay does have a primer. there eye shadows are awesome as well. i have oily skin in the summer & never had any problems w/there products. you can apply it dry or you can wet the sponge for a darker look. i've also notice the mineral powder eye shadows work very well. i think i tried revlon.

I use under eye concealer. The one I've found that works the best is Revlon Colorstay. It comes in a tube with a sponge applicator on one end. Just dab a little on, blend it from your lashes to your eyebrow with your finger and you have the perfect "canvas" for applying eye shadow.

Mine didn't gather in the creases, it "powdered" all around the eye. Nothing was making it stay in place. I have very sensitive eyes and allergies, but I tried my foundation. Bad idea. It eventually gets to the eye itself and then I'm really in for a bad day. So I told the consultant at Sephora about the problem and he showed me the primer. It comes in a little tube. There is a sponse/type applicator that has a tiny hole in the end. You rotate the bottom of the tube and a tiny amount appears. Gently apply this to the amount of the lid you want to cover beginning at the lashes. It can intensify the color of some of the eye shadows as the consultant demonstrated, so you have to play around with it. I, too, like this stuff and it lasts a long time. It costs $14-$18. I guess most cosmetic lines have their brand.

The Revlon concealer would be a lot cheaper and you could use a q. It's in the same type of applicator as GrannyGodley described for the Sephora product.

Well, with all the wrinkles and creases on these old eyes, I have to be very careful about apply ANY eyeshadow. Sometimes I get it on, take a step back from the mirror with my glasses fully in place and WOW. Grap a qtip or cotton ball, eye makeup remover and go at 'em. Bare is better some days than bright.
