Ear Infection?

Ok, we are a family that just does not get these, my oldest is the only one who has ever had one about 2 years ago, but we were in Canada and were able to go to the dr without paying. Now I think I have one, the entire left side of my face hurts, my tonsils are white on that side(I am very prone to strep throat), my teeth hurt on that side, and my ear is extremely painful. I have never felt this before so I can only assume that it is what an ear infection feels like. I simply do not have the money to go and see a dr, if I do rent is not getting paid and that just isn't going to happen.
So for anyone with experience with ear infections is that likely what I have? And is there anything I can do about it on my own? If that is what I have I have a whole new understanding for anyone who deals with these on a regular basis for their whole life, it is so painful!

I have had chronic ear infections my whole life (5 sets of tubes when I was younger - the works) If it is a middle or inner ear infection (it sounds like it may be but not a doc) you need antibotics. I don't recomend any otc drops or home remedies b/c you could end up with a fungel infection in your ear. If you have swelling and pain, some ibuphren might help but I would try and find a clinic or somewhere that has sliding fees cuz you probably need antibotics. Sorry, I know they hurt really bad. I hope you feel better.

My kids get them all the time. Sounds like antibiotics would be the answer BUT since my youngest has been resistant to antibiotics now we have found that without them, one or two things can happen...it may go away as your body fights it off--can take over a week OR the eardrum may burst. Don't mean to scare you but you should find some way to be seen.

I don't know where you are from but the larger cioties in my area have free clinics for people. You do have to prove eligibility.

Thank you all for your input and advice!
I went and took the last 2 Ibuprofen I had and layed down with the heating pad on my ear for a bit. The pains not gone, but it does feel better.
We're sure kicking ourselves for not getting travel insurance from Canada before leaving until we could get things settled here. Not something you think of when you're not used to paying an arm and a leg for healthcare LOL.
