Operation Christmas Child is a program run by Samaritan's Purse, a really wonderful Christian relief organization. Here's a link to the OCC page of their website:

This would be a great time to get cheap school supplies for the boxes. And cheap hygiene items (soap, toothbrushes) should be easy to find too.

Samaritan's Purse

It is with Samaritan's Purse, click on the top left picture when the Operation Christmas Child's picture comes up. We have done it for quite a few years now. When we drop them off I try to go to the warehouses and skip the churches because it is neat to see the warehouses where 10,000 or so boxes are there and they have conveyor belts that take your boxes to big boxes where they are loaded and put on semi-trucks. It is neat to watch the process of all that and not just drop them off at the church in a big box. But either way it is still fun. Also the boxes say if you can to put in 7.00 for shipping but we can never do that because we don't have that kind of extra cash and they always say don't worry about that.

A lot of places have boxes of 24 crayons for a quarter or less right now. Add in a small coloring book from Dollar Tree (their small ones are 2/$1) like the "fun pad"s. Pencils for less than a quarter a package.

Johnson's Buddies soaps are $1/1 at Target (IP coupon) making them free right now.

Hair accessories (Goody Hair Accessories this week are $2.99 with a $2 register reward printing at walgreens)

Reach TB is free with $1/1 coupon at Walgreens this week.

Barbie's sister Kelly dolls are fairly inexpensive (about $3-5) and small. Get rid of excess packaging to fit more in the box.

What a great idea! A lot of stores have clearance on their summer items now. Bubbles are always fun and very inexpensive!! Also the J&J buddies bars are free with the target coupon in the generator! I believe I saw a thread about stuffed animals being 90% off at Dollar General too! hth

Just FYI, This organization is AWEsome! I have helped with SP Operation Christmas Child Before...and it is just massive at the donations that are given. All the items listed above sound great, but definately anything would be appreciated I work in the same town as SP corp is in. HTH
