I freelance... and I email on job the week or two before with days I can work and they book me... well, I did this last week and was blown off... so finally I get notice that they filled the spot I was doing with another freelancer! This is a place I've been working at for 9 years. So, needless to say I caused a stink. I emailed a manager who's a friend and talked to G (who is manager of the floor crew). I just wanted to know what was going on... not give anyone headaches!

I got an email from the schedulers who were rather pissed at me... seems management is coming down on them for doing this. Sorry, I can't help it.

So, I finally wrote out a long email...

That's ok.. I'm sorry for getting you in the middle of it.. .it just sucks when you do something for so long... you bend over backwards for years when asked to do something. I ask what days you need me and I'm told you guys are so far behind that you haven't gotten to schedule those days so to email you... which i do... I don't hear back... then when I do... you've completely taken me off the schedule. That's not fair.

When ever I need off on the weekend, I send you an email and even have someone ready to cover the shift so you don't have to go out of your way. Yes, I asked B as a friend... I also talked to G and asked him what happened.... that's all. I didn't mean to create a stink.

I just wanted to know why I was put out with the trash without so much as a note. This happened a month or so ago when Anthony and I were taken off the overnights on the weekend... again without discussing first. (I also know the crew doesn't particularly like C (the guy who replaced me)... so it really was a stab in the back. It makes me not want to do anything more than my 16 hours on the weekend.)

Please tell me that sounds ok.

I would not send that email.
Take the high road.
Don't use words and phrases like suck, bend over backwards, not fair, create a stink, put out with the trash, crew doesn't like C, etc.
Ask for specific reasons why you were let go in a non-threatening tone.
I would be upset too, but you need to calm down before you "talk" to them whether it is by phone, in person or email. You don't want to burn bridges or have this bite you in the butt. Just trying to help. Diana
