| Ear Infection and teething...is there anything I can do to help?
My daughter is getting both of her 1 year molars on the right side (she already has the left ones) and is just miserable. She had a fever for a few days so I took her to the doctor today and found out she also has ear infections in both ears!!! I have been alternating tylenol and motrin for a few days and they gave me antibiotics for the ear infections. Is there anything else I can do for the poor kid, I have been cuddling her as much as I can and made up special soft foods for her to attempt to eat (even though she has no appetite) I am tired, I have been up and down with her the past three nights. I just feel so bad for her and wish I could do more.

My pediatrician gave me drops to put in DS ears that numbs the pain. They are awesome. They are called A/B OTIC DROPS 15 ML, directions read: Instill 2 to 4 drops in affected ear every 1 to 2 hours as needed. You'll need a prescription for them, so call and ask for them. They work almost instantly. I'll never be without this again. HTH. For her teeth try vanilla extract. Just a little. My MIL told me to do this with DS and I thought she was a nut, but got desperate and tried it. It worked. Just dab a little on your finger and rub it on her gums. I know it's rough. Hang in there.

You cna buy homeopathic teething tablets. These worked wonders on my kids! I can't remember the name, but I am sure someone here does. With DS they were hard to find, but with DD I found them at CVS-behind the counter.

Hyland's maks the teething tablets. They are available in my CVS and Walgreen's in the baby care aisle. They worked great for me and are easy to give.

Thanks we have tried the teething tablets and they don't work anymore. As sad as that is to say, they worked for hte first 8 teeth but once we hit the molars they didn't work anymore. I am going to try the vanilla extract tomorrow, that is a good idea. I just feel so bad for her, and I feel like such a horrible mother because I seriously thought it was just her teeth that were bothering her. She had been up a few times over the past few nights, which is normal when she is teething but thankfully I noticed she felt warmer than normal this morning. Her temp was 102 at the doctors office after having tylenol in her system for over 2 hours!!! This is her first ever ear infection, so this whole process is new to me. I just wish I could do more for her.

Hang in there, it sounds like you are doing everything you can. Lots of cuddle time and special foods make it easier for you. Teething is awful isn't it?!

For the ear infection- sweet oil! This stuff is amazing! My pharmacist recommended it and said it is more effective than the majority of prescription meds out there. You can find it in nearly every drug store or grocery store. It's about $2-3 per bottle, just use a small dropper with it. Place a couple of drops in the ear, and within an hour or two, earache is gone! We always keep it in the house now. We've even bought it on vacations. It has always worked. Best tip I ever got!

If she wasn't in bed already I would be taking her out to get the sweet oil right now!!! I feel so bad because she just can't shake the fever and you can tell it is wearing on her horribly. I am on the verge of taking her to the ER tonight if her fever spikes again, I swear this child has been living on tylenol and motrin for 3 1/2 days straight!! They gave her antibiotics, and yesterday she felt better but today was back to the same old story. I am just ready for this to be over with or my husband to come home from this deployment and take care of her himself!!!
