| Milk gives 1yo bad diaper rash
Anytime I give my daughter whole milk, she seems to get wierd gray-colored stools and develops a raw rash that can get bloody. She has been breastfed predominately, but has some formula at day care, and at home with no problems. I avoided giving her milk for a bit and it cleared up, then I gave her some more and it came back. So I stopped, but now I am giving her that stage 2 formula, which I guess is more milk based then regular formula, and she is having the same problem. This is so weird to me, if it's a milk allergy why isn't formula bugging her? Has anyone else had a problem with milk, but not formula? This is my 3rd kid and the first time this has happened.

DD just started on milk and now has a bad diaper rash, I'm going to give it a few days and see what happens. DD was breastfed for 8 mo and the on formula for about 4 with no problems!

I have no idea and no advice other than I think this warrants a call to the pediatrician to ask their opinion. Hope you figure it out soon.

This happened for my little guy, and then we tried soy milk! He drank it just fine, no more running BM's (to put it nicely) and no more diaper rash! He also took soy formula- my other two girls had [problems with reg formula, so we just started him on soy Good Start from the beginning. Best of luck to you!

Yes, this happened to my son as well. Switch back to the old formula and start by mixing one ounce of milk with the formula. Gradually increase the amount of milk. Let her bottom heal completely before you start giving her milk again. Aquaphor is a SUPER rash reliever |

also, I would talk to your ped about giving your baby like skim, 1%, or 2% milk too, sometimes the fat content is too high in whole milk for some babies to tolerate. We are going through a similar situation, except my daughter has swollen eyes from the whole milk.

at any rate she needs to see the ped. Whole milk is really hard to digest for some babies. I only used 2% when we switched.

I agree with changing from whole milk to another. It could be a lactose intolerance. With my DS, he had problems with my breatmilk when I drank milk or had dairy products. He couldn't even do milk based formula (someone at church gave it to him instead of my breastmilk). We saw our Dr. and tried soy formula to see if he could take that before we tried soy milk. That is what he has now. He has a severe allergy to dairy products. Definitely see you dr or phone them. |

my son had the same problem ended up using strickly soy to this day. It would strip the skin off his bottom. He does really well on it know. With formula they break down the componets so they can digest but with cows milk they have a hard time with it. infants really need the fat for brain function so going to 2% usually is not recommended but talk to your ped.

My son turns 1 in about a week, I have transitioned him over to whole milk too, formula one bottle, milk the next. His little tushy is so red in between his cheeks. He is pooping about 4-5 times a day too. I keep him covered in butt paste and powder. He was like this before going on whole milk, but I'm beginning to wonder if there is a correlation. DS goes to the dr next Friday (pre-op for ear tubes) I'll ask pediatrician then.

Glad tohear I am not alone. Poor thing gets red and raw after even one bottle of milk, and she only drink 3-4 ounces. Good thing I am getting formula for free at CVS! Plus I am still breastfeeding her, so that cuts down on some of it.
