I have been lurking (and LOVING) this site for a few weeks and this is my first post! I cannot for the life of me figure out WHAT a catalina is, though!!! Please help!

They typically print out of the catalina machines... a separate machine next to the register tape.... has red at the top and bottom...

Do catalinas have to be redeemed at the store they are printed from? Most of mine are manu Qs, but say, "redeem at xxx". Any insight on this? TIA

I suspect this is a YMMV.

All the grocery stores in my area accept cats printed by other grocery chains. In fact, all my grocery stores accept competitors Qs. I even use Wal-Mart Qs at my grocery stores.

It all depends on what is in the ind. promotions as some stores also run a store only promo. HTH.

I am soooooooooooooooooo glad someone asked that question about catalinas. I was going crazy trying to figure it out

What confuses me is that I often get multiple catalinas at the same store for the same items, but for different deals.

Ex:

Campbell's Soup:

I have one that expires March 1 for $.60 off 6 cans

Then I have one that expires March 7 for $.50 off 4 cans.

The $.50 one is actually a slightly better deal, so I'm torn about which to use first. There is currently a store sale that ends in 2 days, so I may just go in each day and use them both.

At Walgreen's:
$1 off Listerine, then $2 off Listerine, same size/type/similar expiration dates.

Anyone de-coded the rationale behind this? Same store giving different discounts on the same items via their Catalinas?

Indeed, I was able to use other stores catalinas too. As long as the catalina says manufacturer q.
