Mid-March Review

Posted 03-19-2009 at 01:47 PM by twyls

March is half-way over, and I'm going to take a look at where I stand. My goal for March is to spend no more than $300.

Total Spent: $136
Total Saved: $89
Total Purchased: $225
Percentage Saved: 40%

I'd like to get this percentage up. I think this is what I will look for as a goal, though a secondary one. My main goal will always be to meet my monetary goal of $300 a month.

February Review

Posted 03-19-2009 at 01:41 PM by twyls

Yes, I know it's March. I had some dental problems that caused a lot of pain from the beginning of February through last week. I'm just now feeling like I'm back in the land of the living.

Spent: $257
Saved: $290
Total for purchases: $547

Mid-February Update

Posted 02-13-2009 at 08:52 AM by twyls

My husband helped out at work during the ice storm we were hit with earlier this year. His employer is generous and gave us a $100 gift card to Kroger in return for my husband making it in to work those days.

We used about half of the card this week.

February totals so far:

Total Spent: $145
Total Saved: $190 including $55.17 in gift cards (about $135 without GC)
Percentage saved: 57%
Percentage saved without gift card: 40%

Lessons from January

Posted 02-07-2009 at 02:07 PM by twyls

I wanted to post a few of the numbers from January's grocery sales, and try to gain some perspective on my grocery shopping. First off, January was an awful month for our budget. We went $82 over our budget of $300. Let's look at some of the numbers.

I spent $382 at Meijer and Kroger.
I saved $247.
The grand total for my purchases was $629.

If I look at each store, I see a different picture. I do most of my "deal" shopping at Kroger. I also...
