day 1 of the rest of my life...

Posted 05-03-2012 at 11:25 AM by pattysnider

Last year I began couponing as an escape from all the crap that was going on in my life! I can say without a doubt, it consumed me..i was spending 25.00 a week for 15 papers from the sunday post and 10 papers from our local sentinel..just to get the coupons. so 25.00 a week for a year now....about 1300.00 in papers and tons of newspaper print that was never opened which was 1300 papers also....and along with that came a pissed off husband. lol
so i am looking at my stockpile today...im thinking is there really 1300.00 worth of stockpile here, and had I saved 1300.00 over the last year..then i found my WISK stash...last year i had the good fortune to buy the wisk hangtags from a seller on ebay for 50 cents each and ober the course of a few months had stockpiled about 250 of them which netter me 250 bottles of wisk that i use about 1 a week. (these are the baby wisks)..(99 cnets at my walamart) so the hangtags were for $2/any wisk I used them on the 99 cent bottles and was given an overage of 1.01 on every bottle. mind you i paid 50 cents each for the q's but still made a profit of 51cents for every bottle i bought. I had used the 127.50 in overage to apply to my grocery bill as i used the tags up. ***sidenote***I hear people on hear complain about walamrt customer service all the time,,only twice in those 250 transactions for the wisk did i ever et a question of faultiness from a cashier..and both times it was hte same evil coupon hating BEE-otch!, and she is no longer in the employ of walmart (wink_wink) end side note***
as i look back i would say i did pretty well..there are other sales i hit..but nothing like the wisk..oh and i have made boxes upon boxes of hba to donate to freinds/family/husbands co-workers etc...and as a bonus i taught my 11 year old nephew to coupon nad he is saving his family of 6 on average 300.00 a month on their groceries that they were buying anyway. **when he started his mom told him that she would not vary her shopping in anyway to buy things she didnt want or that were other brands...ha! she is saving 300 a month and now she buys the good stuff because the store brand is what she was buying and now with couponing...the name brands are cheaper with coupons and over-all better...LMAO!
for christmas he made hba boxes to give the catholic outreach program and each of them included at least 30 items, hed gotten for free as a couponer..he was as proud as can be and the newspaper printed a (small but authentic)article about it...he was proud of himself and i was a proud teacher..i even got abox from him
I have so much respect for a young MAN trying his hand at this couponing, let alone a 11 almost 12 year old!
So, I am thinking about writingf my thoughts here on this blog to see if i can remember the good that i am doing with couponing instead of the nagging question of "IS IT WORTH IT"
I have to say heck yes!

This was great! Thanks for sharing! I don't get the newspaper and so I rely heavily on internet printables. I have no stockpile, I will have to really try and order coupons/papers for good weeks!
