It's been a few days (or a week maybe?) Since I've posted on my blog. I've been organizing and emailing and finding freebies and taking care of a few sickies in my household.
My husband turns into a *BIG* baby when he has a COLD, let alone flu symptoms. For some reason. I managed to snag some discounts on cold medicine and a few goodies for myself at a late night run to Walgreens the other night and quickly ran that sickness into the ground but, the whole family has been feeling it's lingering effects. Today is Tuesday and because of the holiday every one in the household is a little run down.
A friend of the family however did just recently give birth to a beautiful baby boy and I've been shopping around for great deals for her because for some reason her family doesn't actively participate in this joyous occasion
so, our family has taken it upon ourselves to do just that. We have managed to band our forces together and get her a GREAT bunch of items, including some FABU coupons (compliments of ME of course!
) and we're throwing her a late baby shower after she's released from the hospital.
When we showed up at the hospital I gave her a large bag filled with baby clothes that I had carefully selected from our local thrift shop (little does she know) and she was FLOORED. she quietly made a comment that she finally had the family she always wanted and her eyes misted over (in front of her mother and father) I was holding my breath and didn't know what to say so I of course hugged her and told her we would always be there for her. She's a young mother with a young child already and has it rough but, to top it off - a family that doesn't help out at all? Or celebrate and provide a little gift or two to make it easier? I just don't understand families like that. Family first, band together and make things work, easier for anyone who needs anything has always been our motto. We've obviously added to our clan with open arms. I recently picked up a bassinet at a garage sale for $5 and the whole family is filling it up before her shower. I'm also adding coupons for future use... Those sure do come in handy!
Enough of that! I'm searching the coupons online today and in the papers, ready to shop tomorrow for our monthly staples and hopefully a few treats. I'm also looking into a small freezer that will fit in a space I've picked out in our dining room, so we don't have to constantly purchase things, and can stock up. It's easy to stock up on non-perishables, not so easy on perishable items when you don't have a lot of fridge or freezer space!
Hope all is well with you and yours, feel free to comment or message me those are always welcome.
