7/14/2010 - My birthday

Posted 07-14-2010 at 07:34 PM by jbarber8

I made myself a Go Diego Go birthday cake. I knew the boys would love it, and I just found the pan on Clearance at Michael's for $5. It was delicious.

I spent my birthday hanging out in JoAnn's but I couldn't justify the fancy dress mentioned in my last post... yet. The patterns go on sale for $1.99 off tomorrow. While I was in the store, they announced that starting the 17th, college students can bring in their ID and get 15% off everything, sale items included. Yay!

I don't have a Student ID yet, but I do have my receipt from paying for tuition last week. And I DID see a lovely turquoise brocade which would make a STUNNING historical costume. (I'm still not sure if I can talk myself into this project.)

Today my new subcontract employer said they are sending me my own laptop and IP phone, guaranteeing 30 hours per week at least through Aug, and paying me up front for the work. Yay! Usually as a subcontract employee, I can't report all my hours, just those directly billable to a client, and I don't get paid until the client pays. This new agreement really helps me. Still, I have received $0 for a job I started on July 1 ... but I do trust them. It's coming.

My assignments: 1) to import Fixed Assets from a spreadsheet into the accounting system for a high-profile non-profit customer, and 2) plan inventory, create it in a spreadsheet, then import the inventory items from the spreadsheet into the accounting system, for a company that builds carports. Sounds like fun, right??
