6/8/2010 - Rejected before I finished the Application

Today, I was applying for a job at Hewitt Associates, and I actually received a rejection notice in my email while I was still on page 8 of their 9-page online application! It's a personal speed record for rejection. How did they do that?? Are they psychic?

I received another email offering free Microsoft training through a program called "Elevate America". I signed up and received my free voucher already. I'm going to complete a 6-hour Excel training to update my skills. The class produces a completion certificate, and I can take an optional test to certify in Excel, if I want to pay for that.

Gee, it's so nice of Microsoft to do that.

Suppose that One Million Dollars equals one Yard Stick. Did you know the net worth of the average American is the width of one human hair on that yardstick?? Did you know the net worth of Bill Gates is 441 football fields on the same gauge? Wow. It humbles me. So I guess he can afford to help us hair-people with a few free training classes!!

It kills me when people whose wealth is the width of a human hair say that people who have income over a million should not pay a higher percentage of income taxes. The super-rich pay 15% on their multi-million dollar income from stock dividends, while those of us with net worth equal to the width of a human hair pay 25-28% on our income. And that's the American Way.

I'm with you on the tax issue...arghh!

Now that has to be a Guiness world record for rejection...when you didn't even get through it? Maybe they didn't like your name? Kinda weird if you ask me. Good luck on your job search.
