3/24/2010 - When I Grow Up, I want to be a CPA

A few days ago, I decided to study for the CPA Exam. I ordered a Review book, and I found a website which is a FREE review and it includes tons of practice questions on all the topics. While I am a degreed accountant, there are many topics I have not used since I studied them in college, like Taxation, which will need to be re-learned.

I already feel happier, like I am changing my future instead of letting the Human Resources Departments of every company within 45 minutes of my home decide my future for me. I figured, I can browse monster.com for 3-4 hours a day, applying for jobs I'll probably never get, and feel depressed. Or I can spend 3-4 hours a day studying Taxation, etc. and improve myself. I hope to add "CPA" (or at least "Passed the CPA Exam" to my resume) within a year.

I also decided to have my resume and cover letter professionally written. Accountants by nature are not Marketing People/Salespeople. I think it really helps you to find a job if you are a Salesperson type, over-the-top Optimistic. Accountants are Realists!
