Notes from a mid-life wife and mother who likes running, knitting, cows, piano, and last but not least, coupons!
2/26/2010 - Just checking in
The good news is, I bought 12 boxes of Betty Crocker brownie mix for $.34 each at Publix. They are on sale B1G1 for $2.69 and each one had a black peelie coupon for $1 off stuck to it. Whoop!
In other news, I am on my 3rd day of unemployment and doing OK. My boys saw me dressed up with panty hose on and they were astonished: "Mommy, your legs are BLACK!"
I am much more comfortable in my running shoes, but I do what I must at job hunting time!
I had one interview last week and the job turned out to be about an hour away from home - not considering rush hour traffic. So I interviewed with the recruiter, but he didn't actually submit me for the job he had in mind at the moment.
I had a second interview yesterday, for another job that is pretty far from home, about 50 minutes in good traffic. I am a pretty close match for what they are looking for, but I'm really hoping for something closer to home with the software I know best. It's a Great Plains position, and I specialize in Solomon, but both are Microsoft products. I'm sure I could do it, just not sure that I want it. This recruiter did not know before I told her that Great Plains and Solomon are two different software programs. Maybe I shouldn't have told her, but it's a fine line between misrepresenting what I can do and being positive, because I know I could learn it.
I have a third interview on Monday; this one I really want. It's a Solomon consultant for a firm in New York City, and they'd want me to work at home. This one is a phone interview.
I'm having some trouble with the firm I just resigned from. They are saying that the software on my personal computer is theirs. I have the same software on my personal computer now that I had when I came to work for their firm 6 months ago. When I started, I had to bring in my home computer so they could make sure virus protection, etc. was up to date. I knew they upgraded my Solomon and my Office, but what I did not realize until now is... they took off my license and replaced it with their own. Now that I'm an ex-employee, they called Microsoft and disabled my licenses to the software! My demo copy of Solomon is DEAD but so far, my Office is still working. I asked them to put back what I had before, what they removed without my permission, and they said they did not keep a backup. What??
I guess I'm not too surprised since everything I have experienced since being hired at this firm has been Unprofessional.
So I'm looking into signing up as an independent partner for Microsoft so I can get my Solomon working again. Like anything Microsoft does, it's a slow process with lots of red tape and calling many 800 numbers only to be transferred to another dept. <sigh>
Have a great weekend!
