My Jobs and the Satisfaction of Saving Money

I don't work outside the home. My job(s) persay are as an online content writer, a flea market vendor, a farmer, a maid, occasionally a counselor and a banker. I also find myself using the phrase "Necessity is the mother of invention" quite often by recycling used items into things that they were really never meant to be in the first place. I guess we can add creative inventor to the list.
Oh, I'm not complaining at all. In fact, I love it. Being able to stay home for the majority of my time gives me great pleasure since I like our little homestead. I love our gardens and chickens. I'm not a huge fan of processing time but hey, you can't have the sweet without the occasional sour now can you? Luckily I have a great brother and nephew that step up to the plate to help since my DH just can NOT handle it.
Last night I fried one of the chickens that my brother and I processed a couple of weeks ago and I do have to say, it was fantastic. It's a satisfying feeling being able to not only save that much money on the grocery bill but to know exactly what my family and I are eating has eaten gives me a sense of calm. I only wish the green beans would have been fresh instead of from the can but that won't be for another couple of months.
Saving money on the grocery bill was my original motivation for turning to homesteading. The bonus was knowing exactly what we were eating and what it has been exposed to. I have a feeling food prices will continue to rise like the bread that is sitting on my counter right now. I'm hoping to combat that spending with a vengeance. The ultimate goal is to cut the ties with the grocery store as much as possible over the next year.
I make our bread and will soon start making our crackers, chips and pretzels. We don't eat cereal anymore now that the truth about Kashi has come out and that was the only kind of cereal we were eating because we believed what their advertising told us. I will be doing a large amount of canning this year and have cold frames all ready for fall's planting.
Our laying chickens are doing well. The next batch of meat chickens is due to arrive in September for November processing. I'm also ordering 3 Bar Rock female chicks to hopefully breed with my Bar Rock rooster and sell this coming year at the markets. We are going to be breeding the rabbits to provide us with more meat for this fall and winter. I'll once again be facing the part of this that I don't care for but again, it is worth it in the end.
It's a work in progress. It's always a work in progress.
