My Dh just got laid off from his job and I have no idea how we are going to make it! He has worked there for 30 years, has not missed a day in 18 years! He went in this am, and they took him by the arm and brought him into an office and told him he was done, nice huh! He is soo depressed! I am afraid for him. I have spent the afternoon in prayer, I know that we will have some rough times ahead, but he will see us through. Unemployment will not even cover housepayment! He has been on the phone all day, we are not eligible to re-finance, because he is unemployed, where are those programs?

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Years ago I went through a similar situation with my ex husband when his families business shut down. Here I was a SAHM with two small kids and no income coming in what so ever. What made it worse was his entire family was in the same boat as us because it was their business that closed up. It was very hard and a struggle to survive. He finally got a very low paying job $21,000 a year and when I called welfare to try to get some food stamps they said for a family of 4 (this was in the very early 90’s) we made $50 too much!

I would suggest you contact the public organizations in your area, such as welfare and try to get some food stamps. Also call the bank and let them know what happened. You never know they might be understanding and they might be able to give you a break and ask for ½ or ¼ of the monthly payment and just tack that bill towards the end of your mortgage.

I wish you all the best and I’m sure your DH will find another job quickly. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for what you're going through. It is a scary time for everyone the way the economy is right now. My dh was laid off for 6 weeks around Christmas, and the rumor around here is that they will be laid off for 6 more weeks in March. We pray that doesn't happen though.

I truly hope things turn around for you guys, and that your dh can find another job quickly. Just keep the faith, even though I know it's hard. I will definately say a prayer for your family. (((hugs)))

Thank you for everyones support. We have gone to the bank, they are unwilling to talk to us, because he is unemployed...we are just at ends not knowing which way to go. We either pay the small bills, or do we save everything and pay the mortgage? This is just not fair....everybody says you pay us first...no ones is willing to work with us. Well that is not completely true, they will talk to us when we are in foreclosure. But why do we have that fear.

I was one that donated all my stockpile, never thinking that this would happen to us. We used our savings because we found mold in our bedroom and had to tear that to the studs, ( that is not even finished). So I hate that stuff on TV, that says it is because of our own foolishness that we are in this kind of trouble1
