Thank Goodness I Stockpile :)

Early Friday morning (May 8th), as soon as I got out of the shower the electricity went out.
I didn't get too alarmed, as this happens quite frequently in our little town (population 501).
I started lighting candles, and trying to find clothes to put on when Hubby came running inside and said, "We have been hit by a horrible wind storm! Trees are down all over town"!
Instantly I threw some clothes on (found out later they didn't even match) LOL!
and ran up to the school house (5 blocks from our home), as I knew a few children would be arriving within the next 5 - 10 minutes.
20 children came to school that windy morning.
We had to call parents to come get their children, a few we had to hand deliver as they don't have a car or phone.
On my way home I decided to drive around our town and see what damage had been done.
The damage was mainly fallen trees, windows blown out, etc. Thank Goodness no one was hurt.
I noticed several families were just sitting outside looking very forlorn and not knowing what to do next so . . .
I went to my stockpile and got out
*dry cereal (cheerios, froot loops, etc)
*crackers
*peanut butter
*cans of pop that I iced down
*BUKOOS of Mentos Gum
*Peeps
*Bubbles
*diapers
*baby wipes
*Lysol wipes
and started driving around town handing out items.
You should of seen the looks on several of my Community Member's faces. I was very humbled.
One man literally cried and said, "Mrs. ____,
thank you for thinking of my little kids. They have been so sad. Just look at the joy you have brought them" (they were chewing gum, blowing bubbles, laughing, etc).
On the way home I felt such a warm wonderful feeling inside and thought, There is no way I could of done this if it wasn't for AFC and all my AFC friends who scope out the bargains.
THANK U from all of us in little Scammon, KS
