My couponing philosophy
Awhile back, I started a thread titled "what's your couponing philosophy?" That's long since gone by, but I thought I would attach this to my profile, because it says some important things about who I am and why I'm on the forum:
1. I will follow the rules. Always.
2. I will buy what my family NEEDS and WILL USE as cheaply as possible, including a reasonable stockpile that does not take over my home or my life.
3. I will occasionally buy a few extra items to take advantage of a deal (example – you have to buy $20 worth to get the ECB or RR…or you have to buy 5 to get the special price). I will give most of the extra items away. If I don't know what I'll do with it, I'll leave it on the shelf, no matter how good a deal it is.
4. I will be generous and friendly in trading and in the store. I will show appreciation and be considerate of the needs of others. I will try to collaborate with others to benefit both of us, rather than compete with others to see who can get the most, or get there first.
5. I pledge to NEVER grab or snatch anything. I will not take more than a few of a tearpad, thus leaving plenty for the next person. I will not take peelies or winetags off products that I don’t buy.
6. I will go out of my way to help new people, and will give others the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, I will quietly avoid contributing to those who are interested only in profit. To tell the difference, I will try to be wise without unnecessary judgment.
7. I will get over my disappointments quickly, and look around the corner for the next deal. It will always be there.
The way I see it, if I do these things, I will be successful in couponing, no matter how many deals I miss. And I will be at peace with myself.
