I heard that Food Lion is buying out Bilo, and that some stores would close, and then others would turn into Food Lion. I love my Bilo!! Anyone have some inside scoop?

I heard the exact same thing... Since I live here in NC which is where FL is HQ.... they have had it all over the news... They haven't said anything about closing any stores but they have been saying that FL so buy BL.... Here is a link from our local news about it... HTH

I love my Bilo! And I never shop at my local Food Lion. No double coupons, dirty run down store and way more expensive than any other store in town. This would make me so sad.

I don't have any FL around me, so I do not know much about them....but I do know that I will miss my Bilo!!

Hubby works for Bi-lo and they had a meeting about this yesterday. He said that FL has only made an offer to buy Bi-lo but it hasn't went through yet. He also said that from what he was told they would remain Bi-lo and no jobs would be lost or stores closed.

I love Bilo! I always get all my best deals there. I hope even if Food Lion buys them they will have the same coupon policy!

That's my biggest concern is my coupons
I am glad no one will loose their jobs, One of my DD's works for them as well.

I love my Bilo! And I never shop at my local Food Lion. No double coupons, dirty run down store and way more expensive than any other store in town. This would make me so sad. All, the Food Lions, I have seen had been clean and up to date stores.

I'm sure there are great stores out there. This is just our local store. It desperately needs updating. I would really miss the double coupons if they change that.

I have heard that since Bilo filed for bankruptcy, they are required to close 45 stores in SC, NC and Tenn. As another poster said, the last I heard was that FL had made an offer to merge with Bilo, but the offer is still being discussed. THere are only 2 Foodlion stores in my area, both about 25-35 minutes away. They are both nasty, run down stores that I wouldn't shop in, not to mention that they do not double Qs. I am really afraid that if Food Lion did take over Bilo, we would lose the double Qs. Our Publix only started doubling a few years back when Bilo started it. I am betting they would stop doing it if Bilo was no longer doing it. Bilo also doubles higher than the other stores here. I love Bilo! I hope they can work something else out!

Here in Florence I shop at both. My BiLo doubles to .60 but my Food Lion doesn't double at all. However, I get my best meat deals at Food Lion. So generally I hit BiLo and HT for coupons and Food Lion for the meat.

I just do food lion for the flip and special deals,
I hit bilo.lowes,and krogers for the coupons deals and NO HT
for meats everywhere

oh, I hope that doesn't happen!!! 2 of my kids work there!! I will have to ask them if they have heard this. I don't like Food Lion, there prices are much higher and they don't double q's!!!!! Bi-Lo has good sales. BOGO'S!!!!!

Our BiLo here is old and nasty, but I still shop there because of the great deals and double Q's! I never shop FL, I just don't like 'em not to mention their Q policy stinks. And ever since that whole "bleaching meat" thing years ago, I just can't bring myself to shop there...
