I received a catalina at checkout last night that said

Buy $50 in gift cards get $8 off your next order.
Buy $100 in gift cards get $20 off your next order.

Valid thru 8/19/09

The catalina specifically said that “this is not a coupon” and there was no barcode. To me it sounds like you don’t’need a coupon for it – this catalina was just an advertisement for the deal….

I have not tried this deal yet,was going to try at lunch today, but if someone tries it sooner please let me know if this is working?!

Does not include BiLo gift cards. I thought about buying BiLo gift cards to get the deal but looked it up on bilo.com and it says not BiLo gift cards.

I will have to check this out. Thanks for pointing it out. I can get a gas card and a visa card and get a 20 OYNO. In turn can use the visa to pay for my purchases at Bi-Lo this week.

I got an american express and used my 20 dollar coupon on 10 poptarts, 4 suave lotions, 4 suave shampoos, 2 tomatoes and paid just .67 and got a catalina for the poptarts to get a 10 dollar debit card. I couldn't use the american express at bilo for the .67 but I went to food lion a while later and used it for groceries. I plan on using it for gas if I can and groceries and maybe something for myself.

I was thinking about getting my gift cards for stores that will aide in school shopping. With the catalina, I planned to buy a Bi-Lo gift card (because the cat will expire shortly and the gift card will last longer). I didn't see anything stating this wasn't possible.

What do you all think?

Someone on another forum bought a Bilo card with their cat. I haven't tried it myself, but I think it can be done.

I just thought of this: The casheir didn't ask for my bonus card. Did she need to scan that in order to get the $20?

Was there a fee for the Amex card? I got the the register with Visa cards and there was a $5 fee per card.

I bought 2 $50 gas cards for me and the hubby, no fee to activate. We are going to need gas anyway and I made $20 in the process. I am going back to see what other cards I may need, Christmas shopping maybe. Loving Bilo.

I am getting aggravated at this Gift Card thing. I went again today and got a $25 gc for BP, a $50 AE and (2) $15 for Toys R Us and no cat printed. When I asked the CS and Manager they told me because it had to be just certain ones ( belk, bp, crackel Barrel, Bath and Body works, Visa, or Blockbuster) according to a little sign they had abover the cards with some card names written on them. I thought it was just a cute way to name some of the cards they had. Anyone else run into this prob??? I thought it just excluded Bi-lo Cards. I think I am going to call corporate, this deal is very misleading to me. UGH. I feel better now!

I went by one BiLo today and they were all out.

wondering if anyone has tried rolling the visa cards into a new visa card....

I saw it mentioned on another site, but nobody has said whether it will or will not work?

....buy 100 visa (pay fee adn $100)
get 20 cat

get another visa 100 card, 100+fee, use cat from before to owe 80+fee, pay with the visa card from before.... have (about $15 depending on how much the fee is??) left on the first visa, plus have a new 20 cat and a new $100 visa card.... so on....

the fee is either 5.95 or 6.95. I got one today but can't remember!

Buy visa @100 pay 6$ fee get 20 back
Use that visa after activated to buy another card and pay 6$ get 20
I kept rolling spent 66 made 220 cleared 154!!!

I'm going to guess that with a $6 fee each time.. it would look like this:

$106 OOP = 100 visa card and a $20 cat

card #2: $106 minus $20 cat = $86 off of the first visa, leaving $14 on the first visa, and another $20 cat and another $100 card.

card #3: $106 minus $20 cat= $86 minus $14 from first visa, and 72 from second visa, leaving you with $28 on the second visa (none on the first) plus your new $20 cat and a new $100 visa (profit after these 3 transactions so far is a $20 cat and $28 on your leftover visa card, minus your initial $6 activation fee..... so $42 made already.)

or I suppose you could roll the latest visa into the newest one and end up with bunches of visa cards with $14 a piece on them and your newest $100 one....

just got back
had to search high and low finally found 2 $100 visa cards! (yay!)

first one, $100+5.95 fee.
usedc $20 cat from before (had bought some other cards yesterday)
paid $85.95 cash
got $20 cat and $100 visa card

second transaction,
... tried to pay with the visa card I had just bought, and I dont know if the activation had not completed yet or not but it came back as "unauthorized payment source"(or something like that, dont remember EXACT wording that showed on the CC machine)

so paid 85.95 in cash again and got the $100 card and another $20 cat.

still not bad.
I will try at another store again tonight if I can find more $100 cards at store #3, to pay with one of my visa cards I just got and see if they work.... hopefully they will and I can do this 2 more times~!

That is so crazy Carisal! The same thing happened to me tonight! I purchased a $100 Amex card b/c they were out of Visas and pd the 5.95 fee and then the $20 cat didn't print. So I went to CS and they wote me a raincheck for the $20. I then went shopping. I called to check the card balance first so that I wouldn't be stuck in line needing to do something dumb like activate it.... When I tried using it at checkout it said something like unauthorized payment source just like yours. So they tried another card and rerang my entire order, coupons and all! They had to shut down the entire checkout line. And the second card did the same exact thing. They ended up refunding me the entire amount of the card along with the activation fee and let me keep the $20 raincheck for my trouble! That was pretty awesome! I don't know what the deal was, but I actually did better since I didn't have to pay the $6. I hope your card works for you!

And thanks again for posting this deal beefaloo2000! We're really tight on cash right and I'm so grateful for the extra $20!
