I was never insulted like this! He stated to me (I asked for a cs supervisor) that they had to stop doubles because "you" people were causing the store too much money! I explained that all stores around them double coupons (I named them all - a&p, stop and shop, shaws, price chopper, shoprite) and he'd lose business. He stated that they realize that and if enough of "you" people complain, they may re-instate it but we did this to ourselves Excuse me for shopping there. I thought the point was to get customers into the store! Woops my mistake! Sheesh!

That's amazing Danielle. Does your North Haven store double currently? None of the Big Y's near me have doubled for several years now. Competition is the name of the game!!!

This was from corporate or the dope at customer service? If it was CS, I'd contact corporate in writing and let them know what happened. I can't believe that they would support this attitude in today's economy. (OT - I sure miss Big Y and all those little coins!)

Wow, that was just plain rude...I would definitely complain. I hate it when someone refers to me as "you" people...that is just a ridiculus insult too. I used to work for Big Y some years ago and I would never have talked like that to anybody and written up any of reports for doing so. I mean really, 10 years ago Big Y did triples...you could earn them with your purchases...that was crazy! Not many stores triples then either and now they won't even double! I wish they would do something small at least... Price Chopper does this thing where it won't double after you get 50% savings or something...odd but better than nothing. I think they also have some stores that double up to .99...but it does it weird where a .25 q will double to .50 but a .60 q will only double for another .39, so a total of .99...still better than nothing.

Danielle if the store customer service representative treated you poorly you should notify Big Y's corporate customer service representative. The number is 1-800-828-2688 or you can go to Big Y's website and email their corporate office.

Shut up!! That is the craziest thing I have ever heard. He must not realize that GMA just reported a few weeks ago that coupon usage is up 160%!! Wow!! I am sorry you were treated that way. They act like couponers are part of some major conspiracy to get over on people...please!!!

I for one only shop at Big Y now if there is an Awesome sale...I don't "waste" my coupons there...unless they are a dollar or more. They have gotten way too expensive lately. My food $$ are going to Shop Rite & Stop and Shop these days.

I sent a letter to corporate when they stopped doubling at the Big Y in Monroe about a year ago and never even got a response. Needless to say I am still shopping there as it is close to my house but I am looking forward to the opening of Stop and Shop across the street. Hopefully the competion will bring some good deals |

That's really funny, it was the opposite in Trumbull. S&S was the only store in town and crazy high prices. When Big Y opened on Hawley Lane in Stratford, i think it upped S&S's game (they remodeled). I haven't checked if the prices have come down.
