| What to do when shipping doesn't match
Ok- I won an auction and it had Priority shipping listed at $5 and Express listed at $10. I get the invoice, and it lists priority at $10 and express at $15?? WTH?? Even when I hit the pay now button on the auction screen saying I won it comes up that way?? I have emailed the seller, but no response yet(time difference), auction says after 24 hours and no payment, he relists? I can't contact ebay in that time frame- they need me to wait longer. Aside from contacting the buyer, what can I do? Can he really charge more for shipping than what was listed in the auction shipping terms? I thought those areas were automatically filled in when you put them in the auction- it just transfers it to the invoice. I don't get it. BTW, I "won" this same item from another seller and got burned big time in that the game didn't work. I decided to try ebay again, and emailed this seller- he guarenteed it and said to return it if it didn't work. At this point, I should have just gone out and bought the stupid game at the store.Any ideas? Should he have to stick to the shipping terms in the auction? Thanks for any help. Wendy |

Are you paying via Pay Pal? If so, don't click the link thru the email (should never do that anyway, great way to get phished) or on the Ebay website. Instead, go to the Pay Pal website and send payment to him with the correct shipping amount and in the reference section type in "Ebay #------" (insert the ebay number). You should be fine...but if that guy isn't communicating he might just be a slippery slime ball. Good Luck! |

You should only have to pay for the $5 shipping for priority since that is what is listed in the auction. You do not/should not pay for the "higher" of the postage. Wait and see if this person answers. Or email him again. You will have copies of you emails if Ebay asks or if he leaves neg about not paying.

FYI: Everyone seems to be over charging for "Handling" because ebay keeps raising their fee's and people are trying to cover them a little bit. I wanted to buy a Thomas the Train waterglobe and she wanted $15 to ship it. I emailed to ask if she could ship it for any cheaper and let her know about he nre $7.70 mailer and she replied SUPER RUDE that I was cheap and being rude and on and on! She lives 6 miles from the PO etc etc... |

Yeah, I bought a t-shirt on ebay last week and the guy wanted $11 to ship it. The shipping charge wasn't listed on the auction page. I asked him to help me justify why the shipping was so high - his reply was that priority mail is expensive and the packaging and cost of gas to get the post office. Umm, I wasn't born yesterday - I told him to stuff it (in a nice way of course). |

Well- the seller finally got back to me, she claimed it was an error on the invoice-not sure how that happens- but she sent a new one with the correct shipping amount, so now I am happy- just hope this copy works! Thanks for all your support! Wendy |

I totally cannot stand it when people overcharge for shipping. I should not have to pay for gas and time to the post office. If you want to sell things on Ebay, you have to get them to the post office. That's the way it goes. That really bugs me!

| eBay Shipping
Although I'm new to selling on eBay, I found the best way to handle shipping rates is to list the cost of shipping to the furthest USPS postal zone from me and then offer a postal zone discount if they invoice me or give a partial paypal refund for the difference if they don't. If they combine orders they get a shipping discount as well. Of course this is for an Ebay store and not auctions.

ok Im going to play devils advocate here. I just started selling on ebay and learned from my mistakes as I went along. The first thing I sold ended up costing ME more money to sell it! Adding up the ebay fees, payapl fees postage costs and yes gas (because it really is costly to drive theses days) I ended up selling a product with a 45 dollars Retail value for 15 dollars and after paying fees etc I ended up paying 4 dollars to sell the product! I think the price should be reasonable as well- we are all looking for a good deal but if you are going to sell on ebay you should expect at pay SOMETHING! I see a lot of people sell things and make up for everything -the postage, gas, shipping by setting the shipping rates very high or by have handling fees-and that isnt right. |
