Does anyone know where the best deals are for a desktop computer? I don't really need the screen and printer, just the tower...but am willing to get whatever I can for best price. I need quite a bit of memory, as my 5 year old machine is limping on its last legs now! Any help or advice you can give me would be appreciated!

I actually buy mine from Flash Pro-Techsperts. I know the owner as he worked with my mom for a number of years. They have an email list and they send you coupons almost every month.

But other than that I search ebay and this website: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!.

DITTO! my monitor, keyboard, etc are OK, but my desktop is soooo slow (maybe just compared to my new laptop, though).

I was thinking of ordering a new tower thru Dell. the one I currently have is a Dell and it is awful...but Ithink that has more to do with the multiple viruses/spyware that it got back before I had a spy software installed than the machine itself. I also store a LOT of pictures on my comp and DH suggested I get a second hard drive.

You can always go to a computer repair place and ask about upgrading your PC. My DH added more memory and he even added another hard drive to ours! Much cheaper that way!

I ended up ordering from Amazon. Searched for best deals on what I needed ( and wanted). I am no GEEK....so this is overwhelming after awhile! 5-1/2 years ago when I bought present one, I agonized and searched for weeks and then bought from Overstock. It was a Sony refurbished and it worked great for MANY years so I can not complain at all. I got my money's worth! This time the best I found was HP and it was $519 + tax at HP (price just reduced) but I decided to buy at Amazon for $20 more. I bought an iPod for my daughter acouple years ago for Christmas at Amazon (cost back then about $200) and it broke after about 2 months. I was so disgusted and wrote to Amazon about it and I cannot say enough good stuff for their Customer Service. They got right back to me about it. They shipped a new one right away (before they even had time to receive the one I sent back). So...even tho I COMPLAIN loudly when a company really screws up or treats me rudely...I like to give praise where praise is due. For me...that is Amazon...and they made me a loyal customer (ofcourse when the deal is RIGHT!)

I am a computer person myself (little bit of a geek I guess). What are your specs on your computer right now or your model number? What do you use your computer for mainly? (ie, internet surfing & emailing, gaming, pictures). Also do you think you have a virus/malware right now? The reason I ask these questions is that you may have a sufficient computer but it may just need some cleaning out and malware removal. If that is the case, sometimes that is a relatively easy fix (although time consuming). My SIL was about read to throw her dell away but I was able to fix it with some cleaning and such and it works fine now.
