they make it literally impossible without the use of certified mail..

Hence the prepaid to avoid future charges.

The whole gimmick as you will learn is this..

They sometimes wait a couple of days after you sign up to send the welcome email, then they wait a few days after that to send the email on how to get your GCs.. Most people forget / lose the information and never claim it, or they think the followup email is spam..

Then of course they go on trying to charge the average consumer's credit card forever at some ghastly fee with a subscription they make impossible to cancel..

DH was reading something before Christmas about the big "gift card" push ~ it claimed that only 70% of GCs get redeemed!

I couldn't believe it was so high!!!

But it was going from store data on amount sold and amount redeemed ~ now granted, a bunch of those are headed for Riff's "man purse" ~ but that is still a staggering figure. But it does explain why companies are will to sell large lots of GCs at discounted prices!

I did this through My points and when I went to cancel the program they said well let us send you another voucher for $40 more dollars of HD cards which of course I said OK. Make sure you get your account # because you have to have it for the postcard to send in and the email you get for confirmation for the HD cards!!!! Then I went ahead and canceled about a week later.

Monica, Virtual account numbers is an excellent idea! Since no matter what you do they can't charge you again because the numbers ar 1 time use only woohoo!

not ENTIRELY true.. they can post it as a prior authorization - you could run into trouble which is why you should only use virtual #'s that allow you to put a price cap on them, i belive citi does this..

i've always found it safer to just buy the cards with cash so there is no way they can try to charge you for it later.
