O.k. so I am teaching a couple of coupon classes next month. I have done it for my family but that is it. I have wrote the A-Z (plus a few more) of couponing. And I also added all of the good web-sites. AFC is #1 don't you worry. I just was wondering if you all could write your #1 coupon advice. I need to make sure that I get everything. Mine is NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT YOU COUPONS! you never know when you are going to find something on clearance. Thanks for the help! Naomi

Hi Naomi... I would tell them, make sure you have a plan. That planning ahead of time is very important in saving money. Know what you are going to buy and make a list. Also, DO NOT forget to bring your ads, just in case you need a reference. I usually mark up my ad with a Sharpie and place in an envie my coupons, card and ecb's if I am going to CVS. Hope this helps, Hugs!!!

I would be very interested in others thoughts also, as I am also getting ready to teach a class at our local library. I also use a sharpie with my ad's and take an envelope, and my coupon organizer. Nice to know that there is someone else out there like me. I have never done this type of thing in a public setting such as the library, so I do want it to be successful. Like naomi123 so kindly ask please give us your ideals and thoughts. |

Naomi, can you share what you already have? (Or is it already posted somewhere here and I missed it?) I'd love to see everyone's ideas as a newbie. I try to read as much as I can every day. |

three things: Number one -- once you get serious, organization is key, when I first started I foolishly thought I could just house all of my coupons together in no order in a big envelope -- well I quickly learned that it's no fun to be in a store, see an item that I KNOW I had a coupon for and not finding it or shuffling thru coupons in the middle of a store for twenty minutes, furiously looking for it. My next favorite trick is to make my grocery list on-line at the grocery store I'm shopping at. For example, I shop at Shop Rite and Pathmark -- they have their circular on-line and a function that allows you to click on the actual item from the circular and add it to a "shopping list" that you can then print. I only buy things that are on sale in the circular and I really try to match up a coupon with the store sale for extra savings. I rarely divert from sale stuff unless I really have to. If the store has chick breast on a really good sale, I'll stock up and freeze. I try never to buy that kind of stuff unless it's on sale. My number two trick goes hand and hand with the above: If I'm a fan of Colgate toothpaste and get a $1.00 off coupon, I don't use it immediately, I wait and look for the moment it's going on sale for $.99 and using it to my best advantage (getting it for free or close to). (Unless I'm in dire need of toothpaste...) For us AFC'ers this is couponing 101 but most "casual" coupon users don't think to do this necessarily, happy about just saving the dollar. There are certain things that new couponers should always wait for a sale of, because one will always come up and the coupons will always be put out: Campbells, Progresso soups soap toothpaste certain shampoos like Garnier, Sunsilk, Dove and Suave to name just a few most dish detergents and dishwasher detergents certain deodorants (like speed stick) meds like Excederin, Nyquil and Robitussin well, you get my drift. Good luck with the class!

Thanks for all of your help! I will post my abc + some of couponing if you want to use it great or if you have anything to add, do so or pm me thanks Naomi Get ready!!! Get set!!! Get addicted!! Get couponing!!! A. Always have your coupons with you! (even if you are not planning to shop) B. Order multiple news papers (ask them if they have any specials for couponers) I get 4 news papers for a year for $60.00 I earned that back in one week. *Get extra newspapers from neighbors, stores, or recycle bins. C. Look over the ads and have a plan. High-light the ads and bring them with you! D. Get your coupons organized. In a caddy or binder or whatever works for you. E. Don't just shop at one store. Sometimes stores have great sales, and sometimes they have good clearance items. Coupons are good on all clearance items. F. At every store (Albertsons, target, Walgreens, family dollar, etc.) you can use a store coupon and a manufacture coupon. G. When cutting coupons keep all of them. Even if you don't think you use that product. If you find it on clearance and it will be free get it. Won't you use it anyway????? Or give it as a gift. I have tried many new things. H. NEVER NEVER pay full price for shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cereal, deodorant, medicine, cleaners or anything for that matter. I. Use your free stuff as Christmas presents, Birthday gifts, or just to cheer someone up. Don't worry if I give you something it is most likely free but that doesn’t mean it is not from the heart. J. Get a friend or neighbor to coupon with you so you can share you good deals. K. If on-line coupon websites will let you print more that one coupon DO IT! That is how you stock up. If you are printing the bricks.com coupons push the back button and it will let you print one or two more. Food storage, gifts etc. L. Shop at family dollar. They have great deals and you can use coupons! M. Ask if any of your stores have double coupon day!! Not a lot do. N. At Albertsons if you save your grocery bags and bring them back to reuse you get .05 credit for each of your bags. O. If you have a wal-greens, rite-aide, Shopko, staples, or office max. They all have different free items every week, month or quarterly that are free after mail-in-rebate. It take a little time but it is worth it. You can still use coupons on those item so you could be making money. P. Subscribe to on-line things if it means you get something for free a sample, coupon, etc. Set up a separate email address just for junk mail. Then just go and delete it once a month. Q. If you have products you like send them a letter or email about how much you like them. 90% of the time they will send you a coupon for a free product. Same goes if you have a bad experience. We are the customer and they want our business. R. Overage is totally legal!! If something is on sale for $1.50 and you have a coupon for $2.00 off you can still use it. Make sure you are buying something else also so that .50 can go towards that. Some stores will adjust the price of the coupons but if they do make sure they write it on the coupon or they are making money. S. Always have the cashier subtotal your bill before coupons so you know exactly how much you are saving!!! BE PROUD!!!! T. Keep track of you savings! Write the price that you bought the product for on the Upc, keep your receipts or make a log. So you remember how much you saved when you go to use it. U. Always check and see if the coupon says excludes trial size if not buy the smallest size. (degree deodorant at Wal-Mart 0.4oz is .97 and the coupon is for $1.00 off so you are actually making .03) V. Watch for value packages the 20% more, or a double pack for the same price and buy that one. W. If you find a good deal pass it on to a friend, me!! or to the next person in line. X. ALWAYS go to a cashier looks nice!!!!!!!!! There are mean cashiers that hate couponers!! Boys are the best to go to most of the time. If you do get a mean one ask them about their day and try to turn it around. Y. Don't be embarrassed about saving money. My husband will never stand in line with me. It is his money that I am saving and he love that I do but at the same time I do look a little crazy with my 50+ coupons at check out. UU. At Albertsons if something is marked one price and rings up as a different price you can notify the cashier and your item is free. This happen at least once a month for me. But you have to watch them ring up everything and remember the correct prices. VV. Always watch the cashier ring up your coupons to make sure they scan them all. WW. A couponer must leave some for others. Don’t clear out the store. XX. Shop on line and you can save big time! Search for a Coupon Code before check-out. YY. I can’t forget this! If a store is having a sale for BOGO free and you have a coupon for BOGO free you can use it and both will be free. You just have to pay the tax. If you didn’t have a BOGO free coupon you could use two coupons and get them cheep or free also. Z. Cut a bad habit and GET ADDICTED TO SOMETHING FREE!! Some of my Favorite web-site’s 1. https://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/ - Is a web-site that you can price match all UTAH adds. Make your grocery list from that. I do this for major grocery shopping day. Then I go to Wal-mart where they price match all competitors ads. 2. https://www.afullcup.com/ - Is the site that I am most addicted to now!!
