What is the deal with doubling coupons? How does this work?

They double the price of the coupons. Like if you have a .50 coupon, they will double it to make it worth 1.00.Most places will only double coupons that are worth less than a dollar. You have to check with the store to see if they double coupons. Some do and some don't.Hope that helps.

Sometimes the store also restricts how many coupons they will double also or will have minimum purchase requirements. The stores around here that double are Harris Teeter & Lowes Foods. Both restrict double coups to 20 coups maximum per visit. Lowes has no min purchase......I not certain about HT. Max coupon value for doubling is $0.99 there which is pretty standard as kimmy mentioned. You just have to check the stores in your area and ask about the coupon policy. Most will advertise double coupons in their weekly flyer if they do it. |

Do they do it automatically, or do you have to ask for it for a specific coupon you want doubled? Do some stores do this all the time, or do they have certain days that they double coupons? TIA!

Ask your stores if they have a doubling policy. Odds are, if you aren't sure, they don't.

Some coupons have printed on them "Do not double" and yet most of the time Harris Teeter's register will go ahead and double the coupons. I just hand over all that I have and the register decides what it will double and what it will not double. In our area, as kimmy said, HT and Lowes will double coupons up to .99 ea (.50 x 2 = 1.00, .35 x 2 = .70), but a $1 coupon will not double. Food Lion does not double coupons. However, if you do comparison shopping, sometimes the stores that do not double have the items priced at a price that would be comparable to other grocers who do double. So if you have the opportunity to price compare and your kiddies will let you keep your mind on the task at hand, you might be able to shop at more than one store to get the best deal. A sweet deal is when a store has BOGO specials that you have coupons for. Even sweeter are the rare occasions when the stores have triple coupon days and you can get a BOGO and triple coupons on the items.
