As Development Coordinator I need to locate some various types of prizes for the students in the K3-12th grade school I work in. I need some little incentive prizes and some bigger real good prizes for levels of competition. I don't want to spend our fund raising money if I can help it, so I'm trying to locate freebies. Can someone direct me, please.

That done, let me give some suggestions:

First, compose a letter requesting donations. Make sure to include your school's tax ID number. Print it out on letter head.

Now, places to ask:

1. McDonalds & Burger King -- ask for the left over kid meals toys from previous promotions.

2. Harris Teeter. Don't ask for "toys". Ask for donation. Most HT stores will give you a $10 GC to use at your discretion. Once you have that $10 GC, go check out the clearance areas for toys/goodies.

3. Target -- they will usually donate a $5-10 GC to schools. Again, ask for donation for your school.


Let me think some... I might come up with a few more ideas.

For the smaller kids you might what to check into Oriental Trading. It's not free, but the prices are pretty good and it's bulk...

I've always had trouble with the Junior and High school kiddo's....What I've done in the past was get GC from resturants and movie passes...Sometimes the movie theaters will donate a few passes...
