In reading through some of the posts the suggestions have been made to buy 6-8 sunday papers and stockpile coupons. My question is what good does that do to have so many duplicates of the same q if you can only use one q per item purchased? Am I missing something? The q's usually expire before I can use all of them, that to me is wasting money. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to use more than one q per item purchased. It seems like there would have to be in order for people to buy hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and only pay a few bucks. How are most of those items being bought for basically free? Please help...so confused...any suggestions and tips would be great! Thanks |

Many of the stores don't enforce the "one q per purchase", however some do. I try not to go overboard and just use 2-3 at one time, others however use more. Instead of buying tons of papers, try trading for what you need or go to couponclippers and buy them there, then you are only getting what you want. What works for others may not work for you. Good luck!

one coupon per item purchased means 1 coupon can be used for an item. each item is a purchase so you can match it with a coupon. then put several items together, they can be same items or different items and match each item with a coupon for each one....all of those comprise a transaction. many cashiers get confused with purchase vs transaction. for most, careful explanation as I stated above does the trick. for those that won't budge, I either void the transaction and go to another cashier OR just take off the items they will not accept a coupon. HTH.

The best way to use your coupons is to find something that is on sale and then buy more than one. That way, you can buy enough of that item to get you through until the next sale so you never have to pay full price. People get things for free because either they are only buying the very, very cheap or free after coupons items or because the item is actually less than the value of the coupon so they get overage to use on other items. One way to start with coupons is to think of things that you often use and see if you can find coupons for them. Then when that item goes on sale, you can stock up a bit. I think the reason that people say to buy so many newspapers is so you have some coupons to work with when you do find a good sale. They aren't saying that you can use more than one coupon on one item, they are saying that you should buy a few more and stock up (if the item won't expire before you can use it) Don't worry about using your coupons before they expire. Another deal will come up soon. If you need an item, by all means, use your coupon, but don't use up your coupons because you don't want them to expire unless you get a really good deal. I have done this and it IS a waste of money. |

So are you saying that if I buy one can of biscuits and I have a q for .40 off and a q. for .60 off then i can combine the two q's to have a total of 1.00 off? Can you tell me what stores will accept multiple q's per item? Thanks |

if you read people combining, that is most likely STORE COUPON with a MFR coupon like Target, WAG or other stores that have that policy to allow store coupon to be combined with mfr coupon for the same item. most stores will accept multiple MQs per "like" items, meaning if you have 5 Tides, they you can use a coupon for each Tide provided your coupon says $1 off any one Tide. what is NOT allowed is to use 5 $1 Tide coupons to pay for 1 jug of Tide priced at 5.99.

I would like to try and explain this in different wording, because I know how confused I was when I first started doing this, and after a while, the more "seasoned" of us tend to get into the lingo so much that newbies are just lost. So I hope this helps! Let's say you got a Sunday paper, and in the coupons you found a coupon for $1.00 off Huggies diapers that says "Store Coupon" at the top, and has Target's logo on it. You also found a coupon for $3.00 off Huggies diapers that says "Manufacturer Coupon" at the top. You can go to Target, get you some Huggies diapers, and use BOTH of those coupons on the SAME pack of diapers. Now, if you had a coupon that said "Manufacturer Coupon" at the top for $1.00 off diapers, and another, separate coupon that said "Manufacturer Coupon" at the top for $2.00 off diapers, you CANNOT use BOTH of those coupons on the SAME pack of diapers. You can, however, get two packs of diapers and use one coupon on the first pack, and the other coupon on the second pack. Target, K-mart, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid all put out what we call "store coupons" in their Sunday circulars. They are specific to that store and can only be used at that store. No place will let you use two manufacturer coupons on just one item. But if you bought 5 Sunday papers, and cut out 5 coupons for diapers, you could go buy 5 packs of them when they're on sale and use all 5 of your coupons, and then you have a little stockpile for when they're not on sale. I really hope this helps and please feel free to PM if you need any more help!

Also if a store has a deal on B1G1 (buy one get one free) you can use 2 coupons because you are actually buying 2 items so you can use 2 of the same coupon on the purchase.
