So, I'm keeping track of what I'm saving this year. I include all stores, just using the totals from the bottoms of the receipts.
We just bought a new - to - us used car. It's a '09, but was driven by Ford execs. We saved $15,100 off the new price, because it has 35,000 miles on it.
Can I add that # to my total savings, or adjust it down a bit. I'm super excited about the car, cause its SWEET!

But I don't want to up my totals if that isn't allowed... KWIM?

You can add anything to your totals that saves you money. If you had planned on spending the money to buy a new vehicle, and found one for $15000 less than you planned on spending, then I say yes.

There is no right or wrong way in figuring in your totals.

I include garage sale finds in my totals. I needed to buy my kids summer clothes, and hit a great garage sale that saved me about $900 and included that in my totals.

I would never spend that kind of money on clothes, but I did save, and the clothes were practally new.
