Im not good at buying fresh meat.. Since it just two of us, we dont normally buy in large quantities but after shopping last night and seeing hamburger at dillions for 3.49/pound and higher.. I decided I needed to stock up when there is a sale... I see Walmart has Butterball bone in turkey for 1.97 per pound and Sams choice spiral cut ham half for 1.98 per pound.. Just wondering if this is a good deal or not.. Thanks for the info |

What part of the country are you in? To me, your prices seem high (I'm in AZ) but then again, I can't remember the last time I paid full price for anything. |

Do you have an Aldi's? They have spiral hams for $1.47 a lb. I haven't bought a full sized turkey in years so I don't have any idea what they cost! I bought a turkey breast for Thanksgiving for $.97 lb. at Food Lion. Wait for next weeks grocery ads because they usually have some good prices for Christmas. HTH.

The Aldi spiral ham is wonderful. I did it in my slow cooker at Thanksgiving and it worked great.

I think that is a little high, but I don't usually buy those meats. We usually buy whole chickens and I can get them at the grocery store (HEB here) for either .89 or .99 (depending on the weekly sales) a pound. If I go to SAMS I can get them for either .69 or .79 (can't remember for sure) and they come in packs of 2. I would think that uncut/ unprocessed meat should be cheaper than that.

I paid $1.19 for a Hormel spiral ham yesterday at Target, some were marked $2.59. The Archer Farm Spiral hams were marked $1.29 but the sign said $1.89. The frozen turkeys were priced at .78 a pound. I am in Florida. I would never pay $3.49 for hamburg. Look for a roast on sale and ask for it to be ground, my limit is $1.99 a pound. |

OP, your prices seems quite high to me! I would shop around for a better deal. I am sure after Christmas there will be some sales to stock up on.
