| Anyone shop at Ollie's?
One just opened in my town. I have been 3 times and SO WISH they took coupons. The best deal I found was spray sunscreen (Banana Boat) for 2.99 a can. In season, they can be up to 3 times that much, so I couldn't resist the buy. Also, some good deals on food items as long as you are selective. And lots of their stuff has peelies on it!

I went to one when it opened here a year or so ago - the store was a mess! Maybe because it was during the grand opening, maybe customers moved merchandise all over the place, but it drove me crazy & I haven't been back...maybe I'll give them another try. A friend of mine got a beautiful Paula Dean coverved casserole - she paid something under $20 for it. |

I love to buy the books there. So many books are $3.99. I had gotten a book from the library and liked so much that I wanted to buy it. It so happens before I ordered it I found it at Ollie's for $3.99, the regular price was $12.99.

Oh my,I cant even begin to tell you how much i love ollies! Their makeup is usually 99cents,atleast at my store. I was getting Loreal foundations for 99cents and I could not believe it. I've been to two ollies are they are complete opposites. Its really hit and miss on whether you have a good one or not, they do not always have the same items. I went to one for makeup and everything was $6+. i was wondering if there was anyone else that shopped there too. The one I go to is very neat and clean, except where the makeup is,they really make you dig around and work for those .99 cosmetics, but everything else in the store was nicely organized...the other one i went on though was a disaster though! I think everyone should atleast go and check out an ollies, I know they are not in every state but google it and see,its worth it!

Thanks for the post....I just googled it and there is a one listed as being "now open" about 25 miles from me...so the next time I'm in the area I will check it out. The reason this post caught my eye is Ollie was my grandma's name.

I just checked out the new one near me. It was pretty messy and felt like a scavenger hunt or yard sale. You really had to look past the atmosphere to see that some of the stuff was the same name brand stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond or other nicer stores. When it's heaped into a big pile it just doesn't look like something I want to buy. I do want to go back to check out the book section a little more. If they took coupons I would have walked out w/a cart full of VERY cheap stuff.

They also do random days where the whole store will be 15-20% off. Thats always great! I got a patio set, beautiful table and two chairs for 25$,glass table top, really big nice metal chairs..it would have easily been 150$ atleast at other stores. The book section is great, lots of really good cooking books, which I love!

Yes. I have two near me. Honestly they are both pretty disorganized.. I mean its organized chaos. They also sell things that expired 3+ years ago-- like Lysol. I mean for somethings (air fresheners) it doesn't matter-- but lysol loses its effectiveness and so do other products. I'm going again today, I'm on the hunt for an extra duvet cover. They do have amazing prices, but the way they throw everything in bins and where they put those bins (high enough up that I can't look down into the bin at 5'7) is disheartening. I however am a TOTAL sucker for the book section! They have dirt cheap dvds too! They have like 3 titles but 1000 copies.. but you still can't beat 2$ for a top movie!

Be sure to get your "Ollie's Army" store card and you'll get occasional (once, twice a year) postcards for 15% off. Their ad comes out in my local Merchandiser weekly, but I rarely go. Their food selection is so-so, and sometimes the merchandise seems to sit there accumulating dust sometimes. Still, there's bargains to be found, so visiting once in a while is worth it for me. The book prices are mega-better than B & N and Borders. |
