awesome. I have used Aldis for years..before I started using Q's. They do not accept coupons...but what I use Aldis for is to get the items my family needs that I can't find good deals on yet. I love their produce especially and fruits....I cannot afford fruit at WM etc and my kids LOVE it.....and Aldis has it CHEAP and its really good! Last month I bought the kids oranges for 99 cents a bag (we bought 3 and they have almost finished those off already) Apples are about 2.50 a bag but they go down in the Fall to 99 cents a bag too....grapes...get those for about 2.98 a container (red and green seedless) and bananas etc.... The food in Aldis is their own line (but heard its name brand stuff) and most of it tastes pretty good. Since I have started using coupons I spend less and less each month at Aldis but shopping there really extends my cash hth PS....you have to bring your own bags or buy theirs (you can also take empty boxes from around the store to haul your groceries in) and you have to bag your own groceries plus you need a quarter to get your cart and its returned when you put the cart back (they do this to cut down on costs)

i love aldi, i'm European, so it is nostalgic as well for me. To bad the closest ones are 35 min away! Oh yeah, no frills, no music, no fancy signs, no shopping bags, or you have to pay for them, I just collect empty carton boxes while shopping and put stuff in there. I find it hit or miss. Its a very much YMMV store. I have found good deals on fresh fruits. They do NOT take coupons. They have mostly there own label and most of which I can find cheeper at other places even w/o a Q. So just go and see you never know what you might find.

It will be exciting at first, all this cheap stuff, but mine has worn its welcome long long ago. Very few choices of what is there, can't do a whole food shopping at mine, it does not have everything. Its also as mentioned above hit or miss. If you hit it a bad day they may be out of stock, or have crummy fruit etc. I am also pretty sure its cash only, but they may take debit cards ( not sure) You bag your own of course and as mentioned bring your own bags. What kept me from bothering to go back was really just lack of variety and some of the generic brands ( there brand) is not that great. Oh and if you have small kids that ten to run, most things are stocked high, so you have to be careful with them I would definitely tell you to go and check it out yourself just to see if its for you as every family is different. |

We use to go to Aldi's all the time, that is until I started serious couponing last fall, we still go occasionally, if you happen to get there at a good time the produce is usually pretty good, seems if you go in morning produce is fresh, I like most of the produce, as already stated, its pretty much hit and miss, I would go if I were you just to check it out.

I miss Aldi... the closest one is now a 30 minute drive away. The produce at the Alexandria, VA location was usually fantastic, though I can't say the same for the Aldi I went to when I lived in Missouri. It definitely varies by store. But their milk, egg, and produce prices generally can't be beat! Enjoy! |

They do only take cash or debit cards and food stamps.

I'm in an area that doesn't get great coupons so I do alot of "panty shopping" at Aldi's. I just can't beat their prices. Their milk is less then 1/2 the price of it's competitors. Like mentioned bring your own bags. I got some of those "green" bags free from a home improvement store so they are now my "Aldi's" bags No frills but I personally don't care about frills. Just give me inexpensive. Their store brand is often just a private label of a major brand (like their baking goods and cereal are just private label of General Mills, so you are getting the same thing just at 1/2 price). |

Some have said bring bags, but I always used boxes that were lying around the store or in the "bagging" area. They were easier to carry up into my apartment building and they were FREE!

If you can find out when they get their shipments of fresh produce, you will get a great variety and quality! I love paying 20 cents for excellent cucumbers!

Hey ambtay, I live in Texas too in North Dallas and Im getting a new Aldis as well (Frankford and Marsh Lane) So Im excited. It must be a Texas thing to get new Aldis. When I lived in GA and NC I went to Aldis maybe once or twice. Everything everyone is saying is true. The first Walgreens I worked at my manager used to work for them. He loved Aldis because he hated taking coupons. He was a manager for them too. But expect only one or two cashiers and one manager working is what he told me. Theres also good deals on meat. An Aldi is typically smaller than the average grocery store. Have you been in Braums? Think of it like that, a bigger grocery section of Braums without a restaurant.

I guess I am different. I don't care for Aldi's at all. I can get a zillion things cheaper at grocery stores. I also don't care much for thier produce as it seems to be about the same price, atleast at mine, as the local Wal-mart. I cannot understand the no frills part as they are selling almost the same items at the dollar tree and they bag my stuff there. Check it out atleast and see what it is all about. Mine might just be BLAH!
