| Favorite items that Aldi's Carries
We go to Aldi for the basics. My favorites are: Shredded cheeses Italian food cheeses Fresh salsa Milk Eggs Kettle chips Breaded chicken strips (these are really good, all breast meat and perfect for sandwiches or salads.) They come in 2 or 3 pound bags. Jars of garlic Canned corn, carrots, tomato sauce, tomato paste, applesauce Frozen fruit Apple juice Pasta Flour Sugar Egg rolls Their fresh pizza is good if you can find it out. It's enormous and pretty tasty, especially if you add some extra cheese and some onions. ![]() Things I don't get from there: Tuna in cans Sausage Yogurt Most fresh veggies. Pasta sauces |

*************MANGOES!!!!!!!!!************ ![]() I just bought mangoes there for .59 each and they were YUMMY! I bought six of them and they were gone in a day. We love mangoes here, but since they are usually so expensive, they're a special treat. I'm going to go back today and check to see if they have any left. They were perfect. Every one was just ripe and no bad spots or anything. Delicious!

I love Aldi prices, and I've found that most (if not all) items I buy are really the name brand in a different packaging. Some of the things that I ALWAYS buy: Butter - often on sale for $1.99, so I buy several Shredded Wheat Cereal - I've bought other store varieties and they stink. This is the 'real deal' and I believe the price is $1.79 - can't beat that! Bread - large loaf for less than price of WalMart smaller loaf Fresh Broccoli - I don't know where they get it, but it's the best! Canned Soup - always keep a few cream of whatever on hand - .49 Canned Vegetables - as good as any I've ever eaten, and only .49 Boxed Potatoes - I HATE regular instant mashed potatoes, but the flavored mashed potato packets are pretty good - 2 pkgs in a box for .89 or .99 Corn Chips - the 'real deal' for only .99 I'm sure I'm forgetting some ... |

I just love Aldi and do most of my staples shopping there. I have a few friends who look at me like I'm nuts for shopping there, but I'm nuts all the way to the bank...and to good food! The things I like and buy the most are: Butter - $1.49 Milk - $1.89 Tortillas - $.99 Fat-free Refried Beans - $.65 8oz. Cheese Blocks - $1.29 Dozen Eggs - $.89 16oz Sour Cream - $.89 Wheat Bread - $1.15 Fresh Pineapples - $2.19 They also have these frozen appetizers for $1.99 that are really good. Onion leaves with a really good sauce - like you get at the restaurant. Mozzerella sticks with marinara sauce. The cheese sticks are good, but I don't like the sauce - it tastes very vinegar-y. I'd substitute some other sauce. I don't care for their Mama Cozi frozen pizzas and I think their beef hot dogs are awful. Other than that, I've never had anything I really dislike there. |

We LOVE the frozen fish - really all the varieties, including the seafood mix. The fish fillets are perfectly portioned and a great value! Prevention magazine - I believe the latest issue has a great recipe that makes a quick, easy and delicious piece of fish.

I love their stirfry that dosent come with rice it is chicken and veggies with sauce they have it in chicken or shrimp they are 3.99 a bag and very good helping we usually get 2 bags and 2 boxes of egg rolls (2.49 a box for 4 ) so we have a meal for around 13.00 dollars that is just as deliciuos as going out to chinese but half the price. we also like their salad its only 89 cents, their dressings are good to for 99 cents they even carry light dressings now ,they have alot of good deals and always reduce their already low prices onthings like bread i have gotten wheat bread for 39 cents before and differnt things there laundry soap is not bad for being 2.29 when i need some and dont have much money i get it there |

Their chicken salad is really great. It is about 1/2 the price of Walmart or Buehlers and tastes just as good. We also like their ice cream sandwiches--not the Fit and Active, but the ones with all the fat and calories.

I stock up on the frozen triple berries..... they have raspberries, blueberries and blackberries... no strawberries and for a bag it only costs $2.89. Great for smoothies, pancakes, yogurt parfaits... this is a must every time I shop. I also like the chicken stock Fit and Active FF. Much less expensive than store brands.

Wow-there really hasn't been much that I haven't liked. And what's great is, if you buy something, try it, and find out it's not for you, it's not like you wasted too much money. I would say, though, that my 2 favorite things are the vanilla yogurt (big container) and the French Vanilla Fit and Active creamer. The yogurt is F and A as well. I stopped buying the name brands of these, because they don't come close. And trust me-I've tried MANY different kinds of yogurt. I freeze a lot of fresh fruit (again, whatever Aldi has that day, I buy-freeze it). I throw a couple spoons of the vanilla yogurt in a container with some frozen berries (or chunks of fruit) and take it to work. Oh, and cereals are a good bet. One is similar to Special Kay w/Berries, but much better. Then frozen foods, baked goods, Acura beauty stuff, etc. etc. I think you get the idea ![]() Melissa |

Also, the chips (flavored) especially BBQ they light your mouth on fire. Before couponing we shopped at Aldi a ton. Now I think Aldi prices are too high. The hubby and I laughed last time we were in picking up a few things.

I only get a very few items at Aldi's ... I can almost always get things cheaper at Meijer's AC.... if I don't get good deals on a given week and I need a few things.. I do like their canned beans, canned veggies, and some baking goods. I think their tomato products ( esp. tomato paste) is a good price. I think the quality of their products for being a discount store is really quite good. I don't like that there is no organic produce and that a lot of their snacks and stuff still have transfat or are generally not the best health wise. We only give our dd organic milk so it's annoying that they don't have an organic option esp. as more and more peds are recommending organic milk until the age of 4 at least around here. Also they don't offer any cage free eggs and I don't buy non cage-free eggs I think the conditions those animals live in is horrid so I find that annoying as well. But I do have to say if you are comparing them on pre-coupon prices they are usualy one of the better deals in town for most items.

A few years back I used to shop at Aldi's all the time, now it's only periodically. I shop mostly at Trader Joes for some of the same items that Aldi's has (been told that they are both owned by the same company?) because they don't have a lot of the additives that Aldi's does. I do like their sweet onion salsa, veggies/fruits (when not brown or modly), shrimp, corn chips (buy only occasionally for my husband and kids), bacon, etc. |
