Albertsons on Mesmer in Culver City is closing. Huge signs 10-90% off, everything must go. Open 8am-8-pm only. I just saw this a few hrs ago and the store seemed pretty stocked.

25% off diapers, coffee (starbucks is cheaper at Ralphs, $7.99...use $1.50/1), pasta... 50% kitchen utensils, spices, 10% cereal, baking mixes...I'll keep going until they lower the prices

The supermarket industry has always had low profit margins, so companies have limited room to withstand pricing pressures. That's less of a concern for companies such as Wal-Mart and Target, which offer groceries as a way to attract shoppers who will buy more expensive items such as clothes.

Most grocery stores cannot compete with WM and Target because the giant retailers can literally command prices they want to pay manufacturers. That is the reason we see value packs @ WM and Target that are not available in other grocery stores.

I'm not sure about the last sentence because most people I know who want expensive items go to the mall or stores like Dillards or those who like to discounts go to Kohls. afaik, WM and Target aren't known for expensive clothes.
