Guidelines for posting of Coupon/Deal Blogs or Websites including ANY blog/website that you personally own
Supporting members and members with at least 250 posts may post an external link in their signatures. Only Supporting Members may
have a referral link as the external link in their signature. No additional text may accompany the link, and the link must be in regular font size.

If you post information from another site, you may give credit to that site by posting a link to the site at the bottom of your post. The link should be a title, URL, or abbreviation only. No other text accompanying the link is allowed. Please note that some large competitor sites will continue to be censored, so if your link is censored you can thank the OP at that site by using the initials of the site.

Examples of credits that meet these requirements (posted at the bottom of the thread only):
Couponblogsite.com
Coupon Blog Site
Thanks CouponBlogSite.com
Thanks Coupon Blog Site
Thanks CBS

Examples of credits that are NOT allowed:
Check out this Coupon Blog Site where I found this deal.
CBS is Awesome.
This Deal Was found on a site I frequent- Coupon Blog Site.

Please keep in mind that posts promoting another site are not allowed. Furthermore, posts asking about other sites (such as asking what other sites have matchups or local store info, etc) are not allowed. Also, if you are the owner/writer on another site and you are posting on AFC, then no credit is due at all. You simply write as an original author on AFC.

Spamming with deals from the same site just to post link credit is not allowed. Posting deals from the same site in order to link to that site will not be tolerated.

Use of a member's avatar, tag line, or status line to promote a blog, facebook page or another site is not allowed per A Full Cup's Terms of Services.

I'm looking for a little clarification...

I'm still fairly new to the big coupon forums. AFC is pretty much the only one I use unless I just happen to see a link to a post somewhere while on another site.

Is there a list of abbreviations for other big sites? I've seen abbreviations here and there in threads but I usually don't know what they stand for and asking seems... inappropriate I guess. The only other one I really use begins with "hot". I'm thinking the abbreviation might be HCW? I don't post there but use their coupon database search/'my list' function.

Let's say a coupon newbie posts asking where everyone found a particular coupon (which is exactly what lead me to ask this question). My default answer would be something like, "Anytime I want to see where a certain coupon came from, I search the (full site name of HCW) database using the product name," rather than simply doing the search myself and telling the OP where it came from - which would answer her question, but wouldn't provide her with the resource and knowledge of how to find this information on her own in the future.

What would be the correct way to provide the OP with this information? Write it using the abbreviation, then post a direct link to the search page below my reply? Is it taboo to link to a site that's similar to AFC? Should AFC members avoid doing so altogether?

My intent isn't to attract AFC users to HCW, but their database has become an integral part of my list compiling and coupon hunting.

In your scenario, why not just point to the coupon db on AFC? That would eliminate that problem.

I never looked for one here. To be honest, I've never even looked through the drop-down list there. I'd always figured it was the usual links to AFC-hosted coupons.com and such that you see on blogs.

For reference, a competitor site is any other couponing/deal related website. Please do not post about other sites or ask members to share what other sites that they use for couponing. I guess it is a real reply in that you really do create a reply, but it's not informational. It just says bump or or something like that to make the thread recently updated and jump to the top of the list.
