Hi everyone, I'm somewhat new to couponing. I've been doing my "research" for a few days now and have learned a lot. After running into multiple problems at my favorite stores, I printed off thier policies and called to speak to the managers. Hopefully this week will be better than last week. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone could offer me some advice/tips about using coupons and/or dealing with the stores when something goes wrong. Any advice on any subject involving using coupons (i.e. what works best for you, how you stack q's, etc.) will be greatly apprecitated. Thanks! |

I'm pretty new myself but stand your ground if you know the store policy and have your copy with you don't let them tell you otherwise!! call corp from the register if you have to...don't miss out on a good deal just because someone doesn't want to follow their own store policy.

I have to agree with you mommybrown! There are MANY stores that the cashiers that just dont know about the stores policy.... many of them think they can get in trouble because you "save" so much! standing your ground is the best thing! It takes some time and may get frustrating, but in the end the savings are whats important!!!

Thanks. After a store said that they won't take my q b/c the items didn't equal the amout on the q, my mother in law didn't want to deal with it so she told the cashier to just forget about all of the q's and tell her how much the total was. I was so frustrated at her for doing that. Later I called the store and spoke to the manager who said that the cashier should have just adjusted the price. When I told my mother in law this, she was shocked. When I figured out what the total would have been if we had used the q's it was over 50% less than what we paid. So I guess I should stand my ground with my mother in law as well when it comes to couponing. |

I'm still learning too, so what works best for me is 1) don't go at peak times (not so friendly when they have lines) 2) check out at the beauty counter if available (ours often have coupons available on request) 3) plan ahead with coupons matched to product, correct RR, and totals (be armed with knowledge) and 4) always hand your RR first, clipped manufactures Q's next and finally have them scan WAGS coupons last. Buy in small quantites at first and you should have no problems. Stay confident and happy savings |

I new to the site but not new to couponing. I would agree with what all the other posters have said. 1) Avoid busy days and times, cashiers are usually not as friendly because they are trying to get through everybody in line. 2) Always be polite. It is great to have the policies but don't be rude about trying to get your stuff sometimes cashiers make honest mistakes. 3) Know the rules of the store. If you know what to expect at a particular store it can save frustration at the checkout. Like at WAGS, know that the RR must exceed the total BEFORE taxes (at for me) and that you need as many items as coupons. CVS has no limits like that. 4) Make sure that your coupons are accurate and unexpired. If it says $1/2 make sure you have 2 items. Sometimes couponers make mistakes. 5) Don't draw too much attention if in a coupon unfriendly store. I know that lots of couponers try to keep a low profile when shopping. No need to draw attention to yourself because they can just make it that much harder. Sometimes couponing is hard, but if you stay calm and collected usually things can work out. |
