Because the site is so big, sometimes the easiest way to start is to start with one store. Just do one store for now and "work your way up".

Click on Forum on the blue bar at the top of the screen and look at the list of stores. Pick the one that you shop at most. Read only the posts for that store.

For example. We only have a few stores here so WalMart is my usual grocery store. I scroll down Forum to WalMart, click on that, and all the WalMart posts are there. Lots of posts about the deals people have found. There is a "GDA" (good deal alert) thread that is new every month where members have compiled a list of roll-backs or low prices, most of which can combine up with a coupon. Not every WalMart has the exact same stuff at the exact same time, but it does give me a heads-up on things to look for.

The Walgreens and CVS forums are very active and will really explain the good deals for the week. The grocery stores that have weekly fliers will have posts about the sales that week and how to combine them up with coupons to get the best deal.

Usually in any of those threads, if there are coupons involved, members will post where the coupon came from or link to the website if it's an IP. That way you can print out just the stuff you need without printing out every IP in the universe.

Pick your store and read up just on that one store. Start with one. Starting with 5 or 6 it will be too much. That's something that most of us did when we got here, tried to do too much too fast. It's a big website with lots of info and it can be overwhelming. You're probably not going to walk out of your first shopping trip with a cart-full of groceries that cost you twenty cents, but you'll make progress each time you go.

Hi Chrissy!

I would love some help. I receive two Sunday papers and have a family of 5 with a 5 year old and two two year olds. Just looking to make the best decisions and get the most bang for my buck. Any tips you have would be wonderful.

Help Sign questions from a newbie

Hi,
I am new to AFC and am trying to learn to navigate the site. One of my first questions is: Is there a certain place to post printable coupon finds? i.e.
countrycrock.com has a $.55/1 up now that some might be interested in.

One popular system that people use around here to sort their coupons is the binder system, using baseball card inserts. This is what I use.
I have one binder for Food items and I separate them into categories using tab dividers (baking, condiments, pastas, meat, frozen, etc.). I also use another binder for things like Laundry products, cleaning, shaving, oral care, soaps and bodywashes, etc.

I like the baseball card inserts because it keeps everything organized. I don't have to go digging through coupons to find what I'm looking for and the expiration date is always visible.

You can see pictures of peoples' binders in this forum:
Couponing 101 - Grocery Coupons & Deal Forums - A Full Cup

Also, the coupon-people that you see on the news- their trips can be achieved by combining coupons with items that are on sale or clearance. Most stores allow 2 coupons on Buy one, get one free items.
Some stores offer their own store coupons that can be combined with manufacturer coupons for big savings. Some stores double, triple coupons up to a certain amount. There are many ways.
That's why it's important to know about stores' coupon policies.

I really recommend starting off by reading the forum of the store you shop at most.

Under the Coupons tab, a menu will drop down and click on Coupon Database. On the database page, you should see a link that says Add It To The Database. Fill in the information. Under Coupon Type, list it as a Printable coupon. HTH!

TNEWELL, ISO is In Search Of.., FSOT is For Sale or Trade.
I think people utilize ISO when there's more of an urgency for those coupons, like for upcoming sales and Wishlists are more for coupons that people can always use.
