I'm starting over with coupons after some serious burnout... before, I was buying 6 papers for my family of 3, and would often buy 6 of whatever the deal was... great for stockpiling but I still wasn't stocking the "right" stuff. So I'm going slower this time... just two papers.

Very good lesson, It is so hard to turn down great deals-especially if I have the coupons, but right now I am trying to wait for the back to school deals so thats my motivation. thanks for reminding us of this. : ) great post.

is this where the stash of 8+ coupons for one item come in?...to create a stockpile??

I totally agree! I often buy things because their really cheap, but it's usually stuff that I don't need and I don't sell any of my stockpile (at least not yet). My hubby told me a while back that I had to stop going to Walgreens because I was spending too much. Fortunately, I am not on a tight budget so did not spend more than I had, but it was more than I needed to spend.

This is a great point. I am totally new to couponing. I used to clip here and there but usually only when we bought a paper for something else. Then it got to where I didn't use coupons at all because I didn't normally buy the items the coupons were for. But, I found this site through a blog I follow, which I found accidentally, and it has changed my mind. I printed off a few coupons earlier and have been reading alot. I have read lots of encouraging posts others have posted and that is helping me to stick with it. We have a family of 6 and my weekly shopping bill usually totals around $125 so even if I cut that down by 25% I'd be saving myself a ton of money! So, thanks to everyone for all of your informative posts! Katie

This is a great point. I'm just now getting back into Qing after about six months off. Before I always wanted 4 of every Q because that's how many of one item my store will double the Q for. I had way too much of X and none of Y because I was blowing through my budget on X. Now I'm limiting myself to just 2 Qs. Since many items you have to buy 2 to use the Q anyway, I'll still have plenty of X and now I can afford some Y too! FLF .
