Hot I rolled the Crest and Reach deals...cashier enjoyed it!

I had a $10 RR from the Robitussin deal ready to expire tonight so I ran down to a 24 hr Walgreens and had fun rolling the Crest and Reach deals with no Manu Q's and the cashier was quick to say, "OK, I see you've got a strategy and this is cool!" Here's how I did it:

Transaction no. 1:

2 Reach Toothbrushes = $5
1 Crest P/H rinse = $4.49
pretzel sticks for my ds = $1.00 (I needed a filler so I wouldn't lose $.50 from my $10 RR)

subtotal = $10.49
used $10 RR
oop = $.49

(If you don't have any RR's to use, just start with one of the transactions below and just pay cash oop for the first one and then start rolling....)

Transaction no. 2:

2 Reach Toothbrushes = $5
less $4.50 RR from Crest
oop = $.50

Transaction no. 3:

Crest P/H Rinse = $4.49
Wrgly gum on sale = $1.19
less Wrgly gum Q in ad = $.52
less $5 RR from Reach Toothbrushes
oop = .12 (I pay tax on gum but then it deducted .04 tax for the gum Q -- weird!)

"Rinse and Repeat"

I added gum and pretzel sticks for my fillers with the Crest so as not to "waste" the $5 RR on a $4.49 item and theoretically you could find one closer to zero but I know I use those so it makes "cents" to me!

So, basically I spent $.62 for two toothbrushes, a bottle of rinse and a pack of gum each time I did the two transactions.

All in all I got:

6 bottles of Crest
12 Toothbrushes
3 packs of pretzels
3 packs of gum

and paid a whopping $3.47 and left with a $4.50 RR

so if you really think about it....they paid me $1.03 to haul it away.

the cashier was a young guy -- and the whole time I was digging into my change purse to pay him but on the last transaction I was wiped out of change and finally had to dig in my wallet for a $1 bill and he laughed and said, "This is the first time you pay with paper -- this is amazing." And then when we finished he said, "And you are leaving with another one of these..." as he handed me the last RR.

I told him that I left some on the shelf so he can go buy some himself. He asked me if I ever figured out how much I saved doing this stuff and my response was....

"I've never really paid attention to how much I save....but I know how much I spend and that's what really matters to me."

Thanks to everyone who shares their great tips!
