Just make a list of your favorite authors and go to their websites. I've checked out several, and more often than not, they offer you something for free.
Bookmarks
Autographed bookplates
Recipe cards and booklets
Free promo materials for current and past books (you'd be surprised what's on that list)
Not to mention that half of them will have contests to win their latest book, or a book by their favorite author. Definitely worth the fifteen minutes it takes to check out your top ten list.
