Update:

The ankle was kept elevated.
My son was hesitant to put any weight on it.
He kept is resting on a chair during dinner. He complained about the pain during dinner.
DH started to carry him upstairs to bed, but DS asked to be sat on the floor so he could get this 'cool toy' to take upstairs.
DS finds the toy and says, "Hey.. check this out Mom! Watch how it shines in the dark!"

Stands up and proceeds to walk upstairs unassisted and with no complaints.

DH & I just -- I am sure his ankle did hurt... but I think he played it out a bit!
