Our Wal-Marts here will not take competitor coupons, so I guess that is a ymmv. I usually only price match groceries and they usually keep copies of the ads by the registers, so I do not bring those ads. I have only had a cashier to pull the ads 2 or 3 times. I just make my list and tell them where and how much it is. They will not price match "gimmick" sales as they call them (bogo and % off). And yes, they will sell you 1 or 2 or whatever that is in another ad as 10 for $x.xx (since other stores do not make you buy all to get the price either).
Target will not price match, but they will price adjust their items if the price goes down within 14 days. This does not include clearance items, though.
I don't have a BJ's, so I can't help you there.
