I'm not sure if all Freds registers are programmed the same way. At our Freds in NW AR, tax is computed after coupons that's why I get a lot of trial stuff priced at $1 totally free, after $1/1 coupons which states on ANY. Whatever is the balance after coupons is where they compute tax.

I was able to fill up shelves with free Johnsons EZ grip buddies, Olay quench trial, Secret Deo trial, Old Spice deo trial, Sunsilk shampoo trial, Tylenol trial, etc. They do not set a limit on coupons taken at face value.
