I love Aldi's!!!!!
I go there at least once a week for my primary grocery shopping.
Things to note
- Aldi's does not take coupons and they do not match prices.
- Most items at ALDIs are store brand labels, but they have always been good quality. Everything I have tried I like (except for the spaghetti sauce.. go figure someone above in the AFC forum really likes it.)
- I used to pack my groceries in the empty product boxes but found out I really like the recycle bags. I bought two and can almost always fit my groceries in them as they are really big. As soon as I empty, I always put them back in my car so I always have them available.
- I find that most items at Aldis are significantly cheaper than any other store in my town. Especialy things like milk, eggs, cheese, flour, surgar, coffee, cereal, bread, etc.
- They do not carry many brands for each item. Usually only their store label. If your faimily is not brand sensitive, they will love it.
- They usually have weekly "special purchase items" that include everything from cookware, to blankets, to camping tents, and even electronics. If you see a weekly special purchase item that you want, consider buying it then as they do not restock and when it is gone, its gone.
- When I make my weekly grocery list, I look through the flyers for the other stores and compare their sales price to my homemade Aldi price list. If the other store is cheaper than Aldi's (especially with coupons) and it is something I will use, I stock up on the specials at the other store. If Aldi is cheaper, I ignore the sale and continue to buy as I normally would at Aldi's. I see no need to stock up on everyday Aldi items at regular price.
- I posted my Aldi price list in the AFC aldi forum here. Prices at your store may vary.
