Wow, thanks for the replies! To answer questions, DS is 2 and in a bed now, but child number 2 is due mid-september, so we do need some kind of replacement.

Unfortunately, DH is a safety engineer by profession, so used just isn't going to cut it. In his mind there are too many unknowns. That's the reason we took the recall voucher despite not seeing any signs of slats breaking (the stated reason for the recall).

We had hoped to wait a few more months and see if the products change any (voucher is good until August) and I'm also keeping my eye out for good coupons for furniture. I got a 15% off one in the mail, but it's only good for a few weeks.

When at the store the other night, we did speak to the manager, who was very empathetic but also said there was nothing he could do. The voucher is issued by the manufacturer for BRU in the hopes that we'll buy another of their cribs (which would be of most cost benefit to them). Needless to say, I refuse to give them another dime. Not because they made a mistake in manufacturing, but because they have hog-tied us in getting a replacement of similar quality.

We are considering going to the manufacturer (Jardine) to air our complaints, but just don't know if that will get us anywhere.

Does anyone else have experience with Jardine or another baby furniture manufacturer's customer service?
